I talked to my neighbor about buying a gun from him, He says I'll just give you a couple. I say no I'll buy it. OK so we agree we'll take a few to the gun shops in town whatever they'll pay in cash is what I'll pay.
1975 29-2 $495-$500 I pay the $500
The owner of the 2nd shop calls me and offers $600 no thanks
I take it a third shop for gunsmith inspection he offers $800
It's been fired 30 times. I'm a happy camper!

Just look at that gun and compare it to what you see on the shelves today - and the asking prices. Then ask yourself why it is so valuable.

S&Ws of that era, or maybe a few years earlier, are probably some of the finest production revolvers that will ever be made.

Congrats on your new acquisition. :)

BCM 1946, nice story. I'm sure you appreciate what a nice neighbor/friend you have. Remember we LOVE pictures.

We have the best neighbors anyone could have. I'm trying figure out how to put up pictures.
I appreciate all the answers I got.
Thanks Barry

I don't understand the post. Did you keep this gun or take it from your neighbor for $500 and sell it for $800?

You need to read more about guns before selling any. You might run across one you'd like to keep. A lot of us would love to own a nice M-29. Most don't even need one for bear protection, either. But they're nice guns for several purposes.

Waxing nostalgic over Dirty Harry's example is just one reason to own one.

Barry, it sounds like you do have a great fellow for a neighbor. He must have wanted you to have that gun for some reason. Don't lose track of that. ;)

I would shovel my neighbor's snow for life if he gave me a deal like that. Congratulations!

I did not sell it! I will not sell it. I was just curious why it seems to be worth so much. I'll pass this on to my grandson as long as he can appreciate what good friends are. My wife was shooting it yesterday she loved it!
