My "tactical" 2 point sling

So I've wanted a sling for my rifle for a while but never really wanted to spend the $30 or so on the attachment piece for the rail, and then the other $20 for the actual sling. So I decided to make my own out of a guitar strap and some zip ties I had lying around. I think it'll do the job just fine

I would have used black zipties, but that's just me.

I made my own attachments and sling out of a couple of sets of nylon strap with clips from Sporting Goods and a pack of blue jeans buttons from the crafts department at the LWM*. The total after tax was about $6-7. There are lots of ways to make a sling cheaper than buying one.

Yea I didn't have any black ones handy at the time and didn't feel like going out to buy them. I don't really mind the white, I don't think the zombies will be able to spot me any easier with them.

Dude, dunno where you'er shopping, but its not the lowest you can get those items. I bought a NCStar picatinny rail adapter that screws on for 9.99 and a 12 dollar Winchester padded sling from Walmart. 24 bucks at most after taxes. I know alot of sites sale the front sling adapters for around 30 bucks, but it can be found for much cheaper. Just look around as much as possible, the deals are hard to find, but can be located with enouhg leg work. Good luck.

Yea I'm sure the deals are out there. But I just felt like not spending anything at all and this will work just perfect for what I use it for. I really just want it so I don't have to lean it up against a tree when I want to reload or put up more targets.

I am totally with ya' on that one. For the purposes, it will serve your needs just fine.

Yep, 100% agree! Tactical or field use, and this will fail in a matter of time. Its not a matter of if.. its when. But,thats why I said "for his needs" it will be fine. As he said he wants to shoulder it instead of laying it up against a tree when setting targets.

I'm not sure about holding up under tactical conditions, or being the coolest sling out there. But I do love seeing innovative ideas and using items at hand to serve for the at hand needs. I have several guitar straps around and never saw the light. Nice job and free is just a great price.

Exactly! I'm not looking for it to be "cool" looking. I just wanted something that was very very cheap (or free) and easy to put on and take off.

Hey next time you remove it just have 6-10 inches of 550 cord on hand and use that instead. It will hold up much better and you can remove/reuse.

ha, awesome. i agree with not wanting to spend much on a sling. i "crafted" my own as well. i made mine a 1-2 point sling(plays both roles) for less then $3. i also already had some of the materials laying around, so that saved me some $.

FWIW....I picked up a Blackhawk 2pt sling for $7.99 and the UTG sling adapter for $11.99
very inexpensive and functional

That will work for carrying purposes but far from "tactical". 3 point slings work the best when not wearing body armor, plus they provide "fast tacs" for quick adjustment as you wear it. You can get away with building your own with straps and 550 cord, just do a little research on 3 point slings.

I don't think you understood the sarcasm of the word "tactical". It's not meant to use to go kicking doors in. If I wanted something to use for tactical use it sure as hell wouldn't be my .22

This is actually pretty funny. It is amazing how much gear that is carried by real tactical guys is held together with zip ties, rigger's tape and 550 cord.

Your solution will probably work just fine for you.
