I have several watches including a Gold Rolex President.
But I carry a iPhone and don't wear a watch.
I am a recovering Type A, and I would tend to check my watch to ensure that I am on schedule,
even when I don't have a schedule.
Retired guys don't need watches!

Well, it is on time twice a day! 😜
With your workouts, your leatherwork............OK your house repairs 🚾, your time on the trails, grilling, enjoying your wife's cooking, etc. I do not see why you are worried about the time. Get up when its light, do all the things you do that require daylight, and then do the things remaining with lamps, headlights, flashlights, torches, afterall it is W. Va. 🙊, etc.
And if there is any remaining time, I am positive your wife will advise 😇 you what to do and what the deadline is!
Modern man complicates their lives!

"A country where everyone is in a hurry, but no one is on time!" *

*Attributed as an Indian saying, but no specific reference as to whom.

I like my Lumi. I love the tritium markers on it. I would love to find a auto winder with tritium markers Sapphire crystal and at least 100 meter water resistance.

I am a big fan of the Citizen Eco-Drive Atomics. The lazy man's watch. Solar powered, reasonably durable*, and they fully update themselves (even for DST). No setting, winding, batteries, etc. Just wear it! And it is always correct. What's not to like?

* Not pushing my luck, I take them off for handgunning and league shooting.

Have worn a watch since 1958 - appointments, meetings, etc. Have has cheaper digital for 15 years. Presently a Casio Solar 10bar Wave Captor with day, date - auto time check, light and bells and whistles I never use. About $40 3 years ago. Never have to reset due to time check with govt. satellite. But I prefer tools over jewels.

You guys are all rich. I haven't had a wrist watch in over 30 years. I don't care. Before I retired, if I needed to be somewhere, there were people telling me. I had a clock on my desk, another in the jeep, and one in my bedroom. These days I don't go on other peoples times. My wife's near by and telling me what to do, and when to do it. I have no penalty for being late, but I'm always on time, usually a little early. Unlike the slaves who rush all over, being tied to the time.

I eat when I'm hungry. I sleep when I feel like it. I get up late, and don't care. I take naps without regard to the time.

All the way to post 23 before someone finally said it! When I retired so did my wrist watch. I don't care what time it it, what day it is, and I rely on my body to tell me when it's nap time. That's not to say I don't have a watch. I bought one to take on cruise vacations only to make sure I get back on board and they don't leave me behind. But then again, being left behind on say, Aruba, wouldn't be that bad.

I've always appreciated a fine mechanical watch. I realize it's jewelry for men.

That said, my #1 choice for a daily wear do everything beat the snot out of it watch is Rolex.

I've worn one since 1982. Through thick and thin, good times and bad it has kept excellent time, took the beatings I gave it (them) and looked good while doing it.

Construction, automotive work, tech service in field with large machinery, these things shrug it off.

Seiko is hard to beat for what it is. I have some of those too.

These days, IMO, Sinn is hard to beat for value, looks and quality.

The heck with time on a cell phone! A quick glance at the wrist and you got the time.

The way some feel about offing their wristwatch is the way I feel about cell phones. Can't wait to toss it.

I also feel naked without a watch on. I've only had 4 watches in my 75 years. As a youth I had a Timex that lasted until I was in the military, and with some poker winnings bought an Omega Seamaster which lasted for about the next 15 years. I then bought a used Rolex Datejust Jubilee for $200 which I wore for about 30 years, and when it needed about $1000 in work to bring it back up to speed my jeweler traded a new Tag Heuer diver with the 18K bezel even up for it. So my expense for watches has been $270 over my lifetime. I figure the Tag will last as long as I do.

I LOVE My Citizens Watches

I absolutely LOVE LOVE my Citizens Watches! I bought mine about 3 years ago and wifey has hers about 8-9 years. Mine is a Big Ole Yellow Gold with diamonds and wifeys is white gold with diamonds. Ours are the ECO Drive that is basically solar or light powered. I also have a Pain in butt Rolex and don't know why I've kept it, I guess because I bought it years ago and it's been with me a long time. And I had to buy a rocking machine to keep the damn thing going, because I very seldom wear it! It's cool, but I LOVE LOVE my Citizens ECO Drive. I bought my Citizens because my wifeys never gave her a minutes problem and she wears it everyday!

I would buy the most basic Citizens ECO drive watch on the planet!

And why would I have a cell phone in my pocket? Then people could bother me. :)

I don't see them much in people's pocket though, they're usually in the hand. What a waste of an advanced evolutionary appendage.

I was watching Nightly Business Report this week and they had a segment questioning why productivity has been stagnant or decreasing since 2005. The answers proposed didn't come up with the obvious (to me) reason, people stealing from their employers on smart phones. By stealing I mean using paid time for personal stuff.

It's the same as automobile accidents. Cars are safer than ever, but accidents are up. In this case it is obvious to everybody that smart phones are the cause, but nobody wants to do anything about it because nobody loves their devices more than the people in charge of making those decisions.

What was this thread about? Wrist watches? love 'em.

The analog timex expedition. It lights up when the crown is depressed, which can be done by just bending the wrist.Sometimes, I can't dig a phone out of my pocket and light up my location. And I don't want a watch that glows all the time. They're not expensive....

I've used those for at least thirty years. Just bought another one--the one I had had for several years still worked perfectly, but I accidentally knocked off the crown and couldn't adjust if when we changed from daylight time. I still have that one as a spare come spring. :D

I have a cell phone of the flip persuasion; but I've worn a watch since I graduated from high school in 1955, and just prefer to have one today. So sue me. :)

I consider a cell phone more of an essential you can't call 911 from a stand alone wrist watch. Can't get weather alerts or gps directions.
