Try Walmart.com. I found some lined bifocals to use until I got my prescription glasses. They were well made and worked great, all for about $15. The down side is that they're darned ugly.
I still use them sometimes. Good glasses.

We were looking at reading glasses at Walmart and they had three packs for under $10. She could have a pair in the living room, a pair in the bedroom and another pair for her purse.

We're gonna start the pre-operation drops in Lisa's left eye in preparation for cataract surgery on Monday.
Since we now know what to expect, we're not as concerned.

Buy two packs. That way she will also have a pair for the kitchen and a pair for each car.

I gave up on the cheap readers, I break them when I fall asleep and push on the bows. In the year or so since I had my cataracts done, I've broken like $200 worth of them and Ijust decided to no longer buy them. I bought a pair of the same frames my distance vision glasses are made with, they are pretty much the strongest frames made, period, Safilo Elasta. I had 1.5X lenses put in and they work great. I had my old glasses for over 10 years, surviving dog head butts and my habit of pushing on the bows when I sleep at my desk. What I need to get is a pair of the variable power magnifying glasses for close up work. I'm going to get a pair as soon as I get paid.

My digital timer was a handy thing to have when I was doing those drops. I set it and if I fell asleep, which I did, a lot, I wouldn't be late on them. I followed the instructions to the letter, and had no complications until I had a fold in the lens pocket and needed the YAG laser done in the office. No more rays with rainbows in them!

My wife got her left eye done today.
We knew what to expect so it was less stressful this time and we actually got some sleep last night.
So far she's very pleased with the results.

Thankfully cataracts are usually successfully corrected. Today the procedure is fast, simple and instant. She should be fine after the procedure.

I got my statement this week for the cataract surgeries I had in August of 2021. The total charge to Medicare and the insurance co. was $12,560. I paid $38.00. Thank God and the American taxpayers for Medicare.

Having the left eye done in about 2 weeks...the other done a week later. I have to cough up 540 per eye because of astigmatism. Had eye surgery on the left eye with some lazer work and the cataract in that eye has doubled in size. I'm still a bit nervous about them messing with my eyes

Please keep us updated on your Wife's progress. The Doctors say it takes about a month before the eyes are completely healed and stabilized. A month after my last surgery I got new no line bifocals for close up work and they made a slight adjustment for distance. I'm a bit far sighted now. I had to take them back because they were too strong for distance. My eyes had either gotten better or they had made a mistake on the prescription.
I still wake up every morning and look out the window with no glasses and think about how blessed I am to be able to see again.

My wife is happy with the results so far. She requested near vision lenses so she could still read without glasses.
She will still need glasses for far vision and to correct for astigmatism and in a coupla weeks should she should be ready to get tested for them.
She still has another week of eye drops.

Had left done in August last summer. What a difference left was worse. Had to wait till last Tuesday to get the right done couldn't wait, right eye dominate couldn't see sights on my fixed sight guns blurry double vision. Not good. So today right eye still a bit blurry but clear. I went the low rent route , fixed income retired. Got the long distance lens ( Medicare free) buck fourth five to hospital. Money well spent. Getting old really sucks, doctors love me. Can't wait to see how well I can hit with my new .44 special post op!

You'll be amazed at how much better you shoot once you can see again. It's a lot more fun when you can hit what your aiming at.

One week from today I'm scheduled to have my left eye done first.
Today I purchased 4 different eye drops that I will start taking on Sunday.
I was a bit shocked a the price of the drops.
After applying coupons and drug plan discounts the 4 different drops totaled $328
The pharmacy says if used as directed they should be enough to use for both eyes.
Is this similar in pricing to what other are paying currently?
I've opted for the basic that will focus on better sight a longer distances and is paid for by Medicare and my secondary GHI PPO.

From what I've heard, $300-400 seems to be the price without insurance. Mine were about $70. If you are careful and don't miss your eyes, you should be able to get both eyes done with the one purchase.

OK,one down and one to go.
Now 2 days later the eye that had the surgery is still blurry.
Eye surgeon says the blurry is normal but may take up to 2 weeks to clear up.
The whole thing has been painless except the price of the eye drops from Stagecoach on line pharmacy located in Katy TX that only deals in these eye drops

I just purchased the eye drops prescribed by my Dr on Wednesday. But it was only 3 different ones. Surgery on Monday had to start 2 today. The prednislone is post surgery. What were the meds they gave you(if you don't mind me asking)? Mine only cost 12 bucks for all 3.

Lisa made up a chart to keep track of them and I was in charge of putting the drops in her eye. She says that she gonna miss looking up my nostrils.
Anyway, we dropped her old glasses off at the optometrist yesterday and they're gonna fit them with new lenses to correct for her astigmatism and so she can see further for driving and to help with navigating as my co-driver.

Congratulations!! Those that have never been through it don't know it but getting to the end of the eye drop regimen after eye surgery is right up there with making the final house/car payment or walkin' out the gate your last day before retirement.
It is a BIG DEAL, believe it.

These sound like expensive name brand drugs. Ask your doctor if there's a lower priced generic alternative.
She was prescribed Ofloxacin, Prednisolone and Ketorolac but research showed Ofloxacin had bad side effects, so she requested an alternative and was prescribed Tobramycin instead. Total cost $6 for all three with insurance and they worked fine with no blurriness.
Sometimes it's lower without insurance.

I first tried getting the Generics through CVS but they only had one of the ones needed and it was not covered by my drug plan.
The eye surgeon recommends the brand names as being more effective and much safer than the generics.
A lot of the cost depends on which state you reside in and which pharmacy your doctors are associated with and if your insurance covers the meds..

My drops were all generics, and I thought the price, like $85, was on the high side! Congrats on being done with the drops, they just annoyed the hell out of me. It wouldn't have been so bad except I could taste them every time I put them in. I'm one of those people...

I had cataract surgery done in July 2021. The first 3 eye drops I got at CVS thru my prescription plan ($82).
My eye Dr. gave me the next 3 FREE. The surgery only took about 20-25 minutes per eye. A piece of cake and my vision is AWESOME!

Mine were all Generics and only 3 one was Prednisalone another was keterolac and the 3rd was moxifloxacin. Got to use the 2nd 2 drops from 3 days prior then add the 3rd. My cost at Wally World pharmacy was $12 for all 3. But with the lenses I have to pay about 500 upfront because I have astigmatism? Or I could forego the extra on the lenses but have to buy glasses. I am going to do the distance lenses so will have to wear cheaters for up close. The right eye will be done next week. I shoot a rifle right handed and at this point can't see the crosshairs in a scope. Because i shoot a shotgun(and handgun) both eyes open I can shoot ok..not up to my best years shooting. target shooting my handguns I use the left eye. I killed one coyote with the M-1 Super 90 riot and 4 buck(close) the other day and another with my M-66 at about 35 yds. Damn things have killed another 5 of my wife's chickens. Scared the rest with the other rounds out of the 66 to about 200 yds. Not being able to use a scope sucks right now. Hopefully be better sometime after the surgery

Right eye all clear now the blurred vision gone. Finished loading up some .44 specials yesterday and going to range tomorrow. Have a nice clear sight picture on my model 10 and my 1950 Military. No more excuses for bad sight picture and poor shooting. Can't wait!
My meds were the same as snubbyfans wife's cost here in Pensacola at Walgreens under 15.00 for the three. Got the free Medicare lenses had to pay 145.00 for the hospital. Best money I've spent in years.
