N-Frame Speedloader Pouches? :

Hi folks, I have just purchased a friend's 3-inch S&W 629 N-frame .44-Mag with full underlug and non-fluted cylinder (my first revolver ever - being a semi-auto user).

I am currently looking at purchasing the Safariland Comp I speedloaders (for lack of a Comp II being available) and am looking for .44-Mag N-frame speedloader pouches to go with the speedloaders. Leather, nylon or Kydex would be fine either way - I just need something that works.

Thus far I have tried the search function for this forum and searched on-line, coming up empty at this point.

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.

Keep your eye open on Ebay. I picked up one a couple of weeks back from there

I don't know if the Safariland loaders will fit, but HKS still makes a synthetic leather double speed loader case for N-frames. I have one in black basketweave; I know they come in plain black and brown. I'm pretty sure Sportmans Guide and Cheaper Than Dirt sell them. Cabela's also has a leather cylinder pouch for black powder revolvers that may work.

I use the DeSantis. They are very low profile as 1/2 the rounds are on the inside of the belt.

Cabellas Ruger magazine holders (leather) for 7722 magnums work great for hks speedloaders, I am sure that is what they were originaly intended for.

Cabela's does have the HKS double speedloader pouch, and I think I am sorted - thanks for the assistance O.Z., SuperMan, safearm and M.R.

I have to call my order in at Cheaper Than Dirt, otherwise they charge a hefty fee-and-half just for shipping. If I don't come right there I'll get the HKS pouch from Cabela's and speedloaders from another vendor.

Don't laugh too hard but I have been using a generic, construction work , nylon cell phone carrier that has a velcro top strap and holds 2 N frame speed loaders stacked on top of each other .

I've ordered HKS K/L/N-Frame pouches (.357 & .41) several times over the last few years without issue.

BTW: I've bought both the Hytrel & Cordura versions (with snaps) and been very pleased. Haven't bothered with leather cases as the Hytrel version looks like real leather and wears better.

For a couple of years I carried a custom 4" Redhawk .45 Colt and I could not find any way to conveniently carry the spare reload concealed. The best way would be to carry it so that it is centered over the belt, but then the belt contacts the center post of the loader and may launch the cartridges if a Safariland type loader is used. When using the HKS loaders, there is a chance that you will twist the knob the wrong way when pulling it out, again launching the cartridges. I always carried the spare reload in my pocket. I have since moved on to the 625s where the spare moonclip reloads are faster and much easier to conceal on the belt.
