has anyone used this configuration with the ncstar (or any other scope) with a red dot mounted on the side? surely the sighting in wouldn't be much different with it being off to the side would it?

i wouldn't think so but i have someone who disagrees with me and said this setup won't work right.

thanks

for the distance you will be shooting your m&p it probably wont make any difference... brett has that optic.. im runing a 3-9x42 with the built in laser and a 45 degree mount with the same ddab on it in a few days.. you may just wanna buy the 15 dollar mount and move it on a 45 like mine so you can just rotate the rifle to use the secondary optics... mine is all setup im just waiting on my ddab .. its on back order:mad:

i am bad with scopes. can you tell me the difference between the 3-9x42 and the Mark lll 4x32 Scope

My only issue with that setup is the further the red dot gets from the bore axis the more you have to compensate when your closer or further away from the sighted in spot.

Secondly it will require you to lift your cheek off the stock and loose your cheek weld and make for sloppy shots, But thats not such a big issue as most people would use it for fast target acquisition and closer ranges.

I prefer this setup:

The 3-9x42 has variable zoom (3X to 9X) and a larger objective (front) lens 42 mm diameter.

The other is a fixed 4X magnification with a 32mm objective.

I'm sure the lens construction, coating, etc are all identical.
