I have an antique err...Colt Police Positive that's chambered in .32 Colt...an obsolete cartridge that is a few thousands smaller in diameter than S&W long. Without going into detail, I need a guy with a boring mill, a lathe or good drill press to ream six holes in a revolver cylinder so that a S&W .32 long will fit.

Thanks in advance

32 colt

I think Winchester still makes 32 short colt. I picked up a box about a month ago at a gunshow. It was pretty modern, Winchester super X in a silver box with a bar code on the bottom. It said: 32 short colt, 80 gr. lead round nose, target/range. Then it had a number X32SCP, I don't know if that is the product number. If you are killing paper It won't care if it is short or long Colt.

You do that job with a chamber reamer by hand. Don't need any machinery, just the reamer handle, like a tap handle, and some cutting oil.
Rent the reamer, do it yourself, and be done in less than an hour.

In .32 Colt Long (and Short), the case neck diameter is .313. In .32 S&W Long (and Short), the case neck diam. is .334. Make sure to use the right reamer and ammo. They are not interchangeable. That's the long and short of it.

The .38 Colt and .38 S&W have a similar situation.

Plus, you can rent the reamer from 4DReamer Rental. $42+$12.95 shipping. Also needed a can of brake cleaner and some light cutting oil like Rapid Tap or Ace Hardware's thread cutting oil. The reamer has a pilot that keeps it alighted in throat and it will naturally want to cut on center anyway.

Place cylinder in padded vice with something under it to keep oil and cuttings at bay. Lightly oil chamber and reamer. Insert reamer in one chamber and turn clockwise with just a tiny bit of downward pressure Never turn to left. Make 4- 6 complete turns remove spray reamer clean and re oil it. Repeat until rim cutter just marks where rim sits. clean go to another chamber.
