Hi, my father in law showed me this and he needs grips for it. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me more about this gun and if grips are available for it and where to get them. Thanks!
This is N O T a Smith & Wesson revolver.
It is specifically marked "for S.... & . W....ctg.
It looks more like an early European da internal hammer revolver.
Did you check for the tell tale European proof marks?
Tired Gunsmith, thanks for the info. I don't have the gun in my possession....it's in PA and I'm in FL. My dad in law asked me to see what I could find out about it as it was his dad's.
Thanks...it doesn't seem worth it to spend money on to get grips let alone try to find ammo for it.
Ammo should be easy. It's more than likely either .32 or .38 S&W (NOT .38 Special.) Whether or not to shoot it is another question. (I don't think I would) Finding grips will be very hit and miss. You might get lucky and find something that fits, but, then again.......
I think you are right in "it doesn't seem worth it to spend money on to get grips".
It appears to be a Meriden Co. gun. It probably has "Secret Service Special" stamped on the left side of the barrel. Grips will be black rubber with the round logo area at the top of the grips blank( no logo or company name). I don't know if replacement grips are available and original grips are somewhat uncommon. Replacement grips are available for the S&W revolver (.32 or .38) that this is a clone for. They may fit. You can find them at 'vintagegungrips.com'. They are about $20 a pair.
