Need help with Hand Spring

I just rented Jerry Miculek's Trigger Job video and watched it twice before I decided to try it on my 325NG. Everything went very well except for removing the hand. In the video, Jerry says the hand spring should stay in the trigger, and the camera angle on reinstalling the hand is at a bad angle.

When I removed the hand, the spring came out as well. Unfortunately, I didn't look at it as much as I should have because I expected it to stay put. Does anyone have advise, a diagram, or a good picture of the rear of the trigger that shows how this combo should be installed?

Does one of the pins on the hand go through the coil on the spring? My dis-assembly book shows a pin holding the spring in the trigger, but this is for a Model 29, not the 325NG, which is different than all the examples in my book, and apparently the video.

I am no expert but just recently read the FAQ at the top of this smithing forum. It is well-written by 500 Magnum Nut who appears to have a lot of experience with common S&W repairs. I believe I saw a description of the hand spring there, so you might check that post.

Otherwise, some experienced folks will probably chime in soon.

Thanks. I'll check them out when I get home. I spent almost 2 hours on that one part with my wife pointing out that I should take things apart that I can't put back together.

500, Thanks for the great info in the FAQ. After I looked at your pics it only took about 2 minutes to get the hand and spring back in. I missed the blind hole inside the trigger.

BTW, the Trigger Job dvd is great. I have to admit, the trigger on the NG series is awful and as I was following the video, I found lots of rough edges and high spots. Got them all smoothed over and it works great. I especially like the way he shows how the parts interact. I replaced the factory hammer with a bobbed hammer for CC. I was having trouble with trigger reset. I though it was too light of a spring, or too much oil built up. After watching the video, I found a rough spot on the sear that was catching on the trigger release. Easy fix.

Not its off to the range. 325NG, new trigger job, bobbed hammer, and new Jerry Miculek stocks.

These new hand springs are a pain in the neck. I launched one across the room by accident a while back. While thinking of that experience, I had to clean my gun anyway so I snapped a few pictures of the trigger & spring.
I wish I had a buck from each guy that used them pictures to get their gun together! I'd be retired living in the woods by now.
