1st off, welcome to the Forum!
2nd... How in the world did he get the RSA to install backwards (smaller spring and Disk to the front)???

As hard as I try, I can NOT get the RSA to compress, in order to seat it into the slide. I don't think the RSA CAN be installed backwards.

Take it to the shop when you can and next time, make sure he has the manual open and following the pictures when assembling. ;)

First, Congratulations on the purchase of the new Shield. Secondly, I find it hard to believe the RSA could be installed "Backwards"!
As RobzGuns said, "How in the world did he get the RSA to install backwards?" The spring is captive and the rod and spring assy. are as one piece. I field striped my Shield and tried to assemble it backwards; No way!
Either you are vague with your description of the problem, or there is some other intent that is not mentioned.
This also brings up the question, why did not your husband post the question on the forum?
Is this his first gun?

Best he takes it back to the dealer and have them look at it.

There's probably some videos on youtube for reassembly of the shield - I think I did that once with a glock, put the recoil spring in backwards but discovered it before trying to re-assemble it.

Heck, the original post was less than 16Hrs ago.
While a bunch of us would have checked back multiple times and all replies have been 'return it', perhaps (if she DID scan back since) she saw no reason to supply further information (even though a 'Thanks' might have been in order :D).

Give her a break... After all, her hubbie made HER ask for him. ;)
