I have some new night sights for my 5906, got the rear on with much effort, but that front sight is giving me problems. Can someone recommend a sight pusher that they have actually used on a 59xx 69xx series pistol front sight? I am doing two so worth buying the tool for me. Merry Christmas too. LOL

I agree. I recently installed a set of Trijicon night sights on an early 5906; they both needed a bit of fitting, but went in with a brass punch and small hammer. Most sight pushers work well, but things can go awry quickly if you're not careful, especially with the small front sight base. JMHO.

I have a Jennings Machine (sightpushertool.com) sight pusher that I've used to change many sights - on a 3913, 4040PD, 5906, and some SIGs and Glocks. It's similar to many of the frame type sight pushers, and works really well - just lubricate the jack screws before pushing the sight. Setting up the alignment is tedious and critical - it's really easy to damage the sight or slide if you don't verify everything is well aligned and the slide is absolutely tight! I hold the slide in place with a thick cloth and put a thin shim (cardboard will work) over the jackscrew to prevent marring of the sight. I push one sight out first, then reinstall the new sight (jack screw moved to opposite side of frame), then realign the slide in the tool to do the other sight. For sights that are not in really tight, the brass punch method is much faster.

What brand of night sights?

Most new sights need fitting so they can slide approximately 1/3 of the way in (right to left) & then a brass punch and a lightweight hammer can tap it in the rest of the way.

Have you done any fitting / filing on the sight's base yet?
