My brother-in-law has "camped" his way (with his wife and a 50K slide in) from San Diego to NW FL and wants to order some MRE's. Said there were NONE anywhere to order. It would put a huge grin on my face if I could give him a site to order them from.

Yeah, but you gotta be careful where you buy MRE's, not all of them are truly mil-spec or could be old surplus.

Try to find a source that is an approved supplier to the military, most offer civilian branded products.

The only way to legally purchase true, full spec, and in date MREs is via the comissary on your nearest local base. Anyone with privledges to shop there can get them for you. Prices went up recently, I think that they are around 9 dollars each now. Otherwise the only military spec ones for sale would be surplus or stolen.

Most of the military MRE contractors make a Civvy version, but these differ in some ways from the military products.

The freeze dried meals from any camping store actually taste better.

for the rather limited experience I've had with them....and other than "just a few for back up" the commercial canned goods are better and far more economical.

The last cases of MRE I bought were around $50--you can tell it's been awhile. While I enjoyed having them around, gradually over the years I used them up, choked them down (actually DID taste better than previous concoctions) but did not find a pressing need to restock.

I think I can do better picking out the stuff I want and storing it adequately.

If you like chicken, these guys had a couple of MRE entrees in stock when I looked.

I'd advise against a steady diet of these things.

They're designed for fighting men and women who are working hard and away from good logistical support.

So they have lots and lots of calories.. And very little fiber... Never mind, sounds like the typical American diet...

Yeah, you're right, but he wants to "act like" he's roughing it while he's parked at the KOA in Key West on a $120/day slab on the beach~

.......typical southern California democrat. He GAVE two pistols away last year to his neighbor because he was AFRAID to keep them, even though they were legally bought at a SD gun store.
