My my question, is it possible for the yoke's spring/plunger to come out of the screw while the revolver is completely/properly assembled????
I had a customer recently bring in a 625JM. He had the revolver in one hand and the yoke/cylinder in the other. Frame was completely assembled, grips in place, side plate and all 3 screws snug.
I pulled it apart, removed grips & side plate. forward screw was tight. Not overly so, just tight. Plunger and spring were missing from the screw. I found the plunger and spring in the tunnel where the yoke goes. Spring is slightly fouled but seemed to have enough pressure to hold the crane in place. Quick clean and reassembled it for customer (and ordered a new spring...had plungers in stock, out of springs) Customer shot a match a couple of days later and said everything worked fine.
Customer swears that he did not take the screw/plunger out.
I can't see how this could happen without removing the screw. I've never run across this in the past. Any of your thoughts would be appreciated.
