Finally went and picked up my new 40VE this weekend at Shooter's Depot in Chattanooga. I got a really good deal for my area, but instead of the rebate my wife got the mags for me instead. She said that she figured I would probably go and buy them anyway, but it was really because she's really cool!! Haven't got to shoot it yet, but going to this weekend if I don't have to work. I really love the way it feels and looks.

Best to get the mags, on the rebate. I didn't have to choose, I got both the mags and the $50 when I bought mine.

My gun shoots everything pretty much. It shoots 180grs best at first anyway. 165 and 175s also ok, but I had probs at first with 155s. Most likely just due to the gun not being broken it yet.
Been shooting 180s to get the thing broken in, but am getting ready to buy 165gr bullets for reloads.

Mine is another that doesn't care for the 155's but eats the 180's like candy. Not sure what that is, but I'm contented with the 180's enough to pass the others by.

Shooter wives are great to have. Mine got me a Benelli shotgun for fathers day, yeah she's my buddy.

Oh yeah, welcome aboard.

I hope you enjoy it. I had one five years ago and after one year sold it. The recoil was unpleasant. Hope yours is a later (improved)model.

Congrats on your Sigma. I bought a 40VE about six months ago and like it. Has never failed to fire. I am still getting use to the gun and working on getting tighter groups. I like the trigger because it is like shooting my double action revolvers. I would recommend a Sigma to anyone for a good HD/SD pistol. I think it is one of the best buys today.

Again Congrats,

I am pretty lucky. My wife likes to shoot too. She has a S&W 22A LR pistol, and she's pretty deadly with it. We are going to invest in a good CCW gun for her shortly. Anyone have any suggestions? I think she is wanting a 25 or 32.

You hear alot of negatives about those two choices. While they are much better than rocks, you'll hear alot of folks telling you to go up to at least .380 ACP, and for good reason. Search on the self/home defense forum for some info. Of course, any gun will kill, but that's not exactly the object of the exercise. You want to stop an attack as quickly and as painlessly to you as possible. .25's and 32's are not your best choices for that. You'll usually find those calibers are blow back actions which may just feel harsher than a decent .380.
If you haven't been to the site, turn her on to Cornered Cat
It's one of the better female oriented sites.

Well I made it to the range today. The 40 did an awesome job and was very accurate... when i put the right ammo in it. The 40 ammo and 9mm are both Federal, and I thought I grabbed the right box but I was wrong. After I sorted out that little fiasco, the gun is extremely accurate and I was able to group pretty well at 10 yards and 20 yards. Oddly enough, the guy in the lane next to me had just purchased the some 40 and it was the first time he shot it too. He said it was shooting a little left, but I think it was maybe him getting used to the trigger. Mine was dead on, and I love the trigger pull on it.
Earlier this week I also bought a Fobus Elite HK1 Roto Paddle holster for $12.51 shipped from eBay, and it fits like a glove!!
Today I also picked up the Uplula Magazine Loader, and that thing is a God send.

For a concealed carry self defense weapon I think you would be wise to stay with a minimum of 9mm or .38 special. (Bigger is better) If size is an issue, consider a .38 snubby or single stack 9mm. I carry my 9VE as my concealed weapon of choice.

My wife has a Kel-tec 3AT she loves. She'll shoot other handguns in target practice, and owns a couple others of her own, but the 3AT is small enough for her to regularly carry.

Wont be any good if she doesn't have it when it's needed. Food for thought.

Also, a lot of folks will suggest a snub .38. I'm not a fan of that suggestion though. While simple to use, they're hard to get good with. Difficult to be accurate, slow to load, and bulky. At that size one could carry a Kel-tec p11 with 11 9mm rounds instead of 5 of the comparable .38.
