$419 sounds like a winning price. My brother-in-law paid $438 two months ago for 642-2 in Duluth.

I got mine from Tom Ball Pawn and Jewelry. They are always worth checking into when shopping for a gun. They ordered mine plus one more, so I bought both of them yesterday. If this is indeed a parts clearing by S&W, I wanted to have an extra one. I wish I had done the same when I bought my 940 back in 1997.Originally posted by lsxpower:
where are you getting it from, I might want to give them a call also. thanks.
The lock may be here to stay. If the following quote from Fastbolt is correct, this may be a one time happening.Originally posted by 18DAI:
Oh, to you S&W apologists who have repeatedly chanted how, "S&W CAN'T MAKE NEW REVOLVERS WITHOUT THE LOCK" and "GET OVER IT THE LOCK IS HERE TO STAY", you were wrong.

I called and asked someone at S&W about this run of non-ILS 642's.
I was told that they're washing out a bunch of older parts stock and were able to put together a good sized run of these 642's out of it.

According to a sales flyer I received from RSR, only 3000 of these were produced. Once those are gone that's it, unless they change their mind.

Sorry, if I did that and they found out it could cause me a lot of trouble. I'll give you a little excerpt of it though....."Smith & Wesson is making only 3,000 of this unique 38 Special revolver, and RSR has them in stock and ready to ship."
That's about it in a nutshell.
