Sorry, if I did that and they found out it could cause me a lot of trouble. I'll give you a little excerpt of it though....."Smith & Wesson is making only 3,000 of this unique 38 Special revolver, and RSR has them in stock and ready to ship."

That's about it in a nutshell.

FF, did you ever get a flyer about the model 37?
I was wondering if that is a limited run, and if so, how many? ........Thanks!

I haven't received anything on that one. I just got the one on the 642's in an email flyer.

There is a flyer in thread regarding the 37, no lock, started same day as this one..it is still active too. Suppose to be fewer of the 37's and when they are gone, they are gone...

Picked up my 642-1 today. DCM75xx, fired at S&W on 7/14/08. Cost me $390 out the door. I traded a used glock 17 even. Shot at 10,15 & 25 yds, not a target gun but each shot would have been fatal. Shot 25 rounds of 148 gr Magtech wadcutter & 25 rounds of 95 fr +p Remington

Got a NIB 642 today, $409.95+ tax. The dealer checked on the 37-2, and his guy had none. The dealer was surprised about the 642, said none of his customers like the like(well, I guess I knew that). I toild him to keep an eye out for the 37-2.

FF,

Thats understandable, I was just wanting to see what it said about them anyway. Thanks again!

Nah, the distributor just wants to sell stuff. They don't care. S&W wouldn't either, if they did...give them a gesture!

The rest of it should read:

"Smith & Wesson is making only 3,000 of this unique 38 Special revolver this month, and RSR has them in stock and ready to ship."

Never say never with S&W.

Never say never with S&W.

That's true with more than just S&W.

We can only hope that S&W management will realize there really is an untapped market still out there which prefers non-ILS revolvers and eventually responds to it, even if it's just occasional limited production runs.

I'll probably be kicking myself sometime in the future for not adding a second 642-1 to my working collection.

FWIW, the fellow with whom I spoke at the factory said he didn't know how many 642-1's were being produced while the older parts stock was being cleaned out.

If nothing else, I suppose we can hope that some other back stock revolver component inventory of pre-ILS revolver frames are found and the decision is made to produce guns out them. I'd like to add a new 6 or 7-shot 686 3" w/o the ILS to my collection, for one thing.

I ordered mine on Wed and picked it up on Thur, so I would say that is "this month"...

Yeah, it's all a huge conspiracy. Seriously, sorry Ange,it doesn't say "This Month". But I'm just the messenger. I don't have anything to do with it. I was trying to be informative and pass along what only "I" am aware of. If it's something different. I don't know about it. Rave on.......

Thanks Firehouse, that's what I thought. We appreciate the info. I don't know why some folks need to comment with rants that aren't true.

My new no lock 642 should be here today. My local shop ordered one for me. Can't wait to get it.

I talked to my gunstore this morning and he said he had three of them. I told him to go ahead and write my name on one. I may go for two.

Sorry guys if I confused you.

I meant it to mean that S&W will/would make more of them if they had to to make their numbers/stock/quota etc. After all, you are talking about potato chip, soft drink, greeting card marketing people.

That's what I meant by this month.
I should have been more clear in my meaning.

I thought the current S&W directors were plumbers and lawnmower designers?

Depends if you count executive directors of the cabinetry division of Kohler or the DeWalt division of Black & Decker a plumber or not...

The people in the "ivory tower" at S&W do not have to be comp shooters or handgun designers to run a company. R & D and machine operators and engineers are a part of the company, but generally do not run the day to day operation of the whole company. The CEO & board do not HAVE to all be "gun nuts". A Capt. of a ship does not have to have a sail boat to use on off days. He may, but he may not. If they were head of DeWalt or B&D and moved to S&W, so what? Those companies are doing pretty good in todays market place. Maybe we need to support them and the direction they are going. Get over the lock issue and the deal with the Govt. Would we be better off it they had said "Hell no!" and closed up the company?
