I waited 3 months for these grips to arrive, but they're definitely well worth the price and wait. I thought the "black and blue" effect of the stock hogue monogrip was pretty tacky, so I was hoping these grips would class it up. S&W Retro Combat Sq-Rd Conversions in tung oil finished moradillo.

That is a fine set of grips, and they look great on that gun. I have a set like that (RB to SB conversion retro combats) on order for an N frame. I have been waiting for nearly 4 months. I called Ahrends about the long wait; they apologized and said they are booked solid, but I would be getting my grips soon.

I have another set from about a year ago, and I really like them. They are a great company, making a great product. Definitely worth the price and the wait.

Very Nice Grips - Dresses Up the Gun Beautifully

Dear Soup: Great choice and in my opinion you've got a great looking gun that now looks terrific!

BTW: I just ordered the same grips for my 617 and another pair for my 686 - Retro Combats, Round-Square, light Moradillo wood. Can't wait now; Ahrends is quoting 10 weeks - July! Your grips are so great . . . super choice and now I like mine even more.

Take good care,

Rachel

Wow. Really nice grips. I love wood grips, they just look so nice.

For some revolvers, especially big bore snubbies, it can be more comfortable to shoot with rubber grips. They look *****, but they are functional. I put them on when I go to the range, and take them off when I get back home.

Hard to go wrong with Ahrends. I've got retro combats on both my 19-4s, one in Moradilla, the other in Cocobolo. The Cocobolos are on my 4" with all options, and it makes for one handsome handgun. I've got Maple retro targets like 3482jl's on my 4-screw pre-17, and they're also very pretty.

Ahrends Tactical Smooth

Great choice, beautiful!

Just last week I bought my first Ahrends grips for my 686-3 in dark Moradillo. I love them! I chose the Tactical Smooth over the Retro Target smooth only because I liked the wood grain and darker color a little better. Ahrends told me the feel of the Retro Target and the Tactical are identical. I will echo Slickracer's recommendation of gripseller on ebay. She's very responsive to questions and her Ahrends grips are nicely photographed and you get the exact grips that are shown in the photos.

My hands are not large. They are probably average in size. The stock S&W target grips were WAY too big for me. The Pachmayers were too wide from behing the trigger guard to the backstrap area. The Ahrends are so comfortable and beautiful too.

Well done. Love all the pics and agree that it is worth the wait for Ahrends. Kim and Judy are very helpful. They obviously have a desirable product. I have my second set (tactical round but finger groove) on order for an '79 64-2 after getting these below. Sooo much better than the stock hogues.

Here the lightning (or lack thereof) really accentuates the dark grain. The finish is grade A as I've left a couple of handling marks already that you can't even notice unless you're looking really hard for them.

Aarrgggh... I recently placed an order for a set of conversion retro targets for my 625-8 and didn't bother to ask when I might get them. From what I've seen above and elsewhere I probably won't be disappointed when they do finally arrive, though.
