It will look better with wood grips but you may find the rubber are better for full power.

I got a pretty nice set made in Taiwan for a reasonable price. Your
629-6 will look better with the wooden grips but it will be far more comfortable when shooting with the original factory grips.

The most comfortable wooden grips are from Ahrends....the Retro combat. He is no longer making stocks, but they are available...The 629 looks great in Fiddleback Maple.

I bought all the 44 magnums I own with wood grips, and I only shoot factory 44 magnum ammo. The rubber grips just don't honk my horn. However if I got a good buy on a rubber grip 44 magnum I would buy it, then put wood grips on it.
