Well, I did it! A month or so I posted a new topic about whether there were any K frames to avoid. I got a lot of good comments from the folks here, and took them with me to a gun show last month. Long story short, I ran into a couple of unscrupulous dealers, got ripped off, and reported them to the Virginia State Police.
Now some folks might have figured that someone or something was telling me not to get that K frame. But I'm not one of them. So I figured I would give it another go. According to S&W's web site, they are coming out with a "Classic" 14, .38 Special, with a 6"inch barrel in January 2009. But that's more than two weeks away. And I don't like waiting.
So I went to another gun show today and did a lot of browsing. Most of the K frames had seen better days. Then I happened upon a 14-2, .38 Special, with a 6" barrel with a tag saying "Never been fired." Some might say that $575.00 was on the upper end of the high side. But I thought that at $575.00, with the original box and papers, and the tools still wrapped, it probably was half of what the "Classic" would be going for. So I bought it. Spent a half-hour cleaning it, and I'll be taking it to the range tomorrow.
I picked up a camera a couple of weeks ago, so I can take some pictures. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to create an "Album" much less post a photo. If I solve this mystery, I'll come back with a picture or two. Thanks.
