Hi all. Bought a new 19 K-Comp. Fit and finish is really great and on par with my 586 L-Comp. Both revolvers are a joy to shoot especially with 38 or 38+p. The 586 is a little flatter shooting with 357. Empty the 586 is about 3.5 oz heavier.
Side by side comparison, (I do not have a micrometer), frames look identical, cylinder is larger on the 7 shot 586. Under lug cut is different on the 19 but other than that, the barrels look identical. Front sight blade seems slightly thinner on the 19. The 19 has a cool detent added to the frame at the yoke for positive lock-up. There's no detent at the end of the plunger on the 19.
I'd post pictures if I knew how but for those of you that opened this post probably know what they look like.
In my opinion both models from the PC are fine examples of today's modern handgun.
They were expensive but I'm lucky to have the money to spend on what I want.
YES,.....they have locks, different finish from models of the 30's and 40's, MIM parts, cylinder isn't recessed, hammer mounted fireing pin is gone (gee, I wonder where they put that pin?!?), no color case-hardening,... and so on and on.....
Between both I have 1200 rounds of factory ammo through them. None of the above deficiencies have put an eye out!
Enjoy what you like and have fun.
