As the title says I have a new M&P9 that I have had for about a month. Man I love this pistol and have shot a little more than 150 flawless rounds. I love the way it feels in my hand.I am thinking about getting a M&P 45 or 9c now. I have to admit on being a glock fanboy before trying the M&P. My friends are shocked that I have turned on glock in their eyes. I still think they are good guns but I like the M&P better.

Congrats! You will absolutely love the gun. The trigger gets better with time (mine felt gritty at first) if you want to leave it completely stock, otherwise I have read that Apex makes a nice trigger package for it (but I have not done it).

In 2 months I have put about 800 rounds through it without so much as one single problem.

Great pistol. Have fun!

I've put about 500 rounds through my new one in just over a week-fantastic shooter. The one possible glitch, though, is that when I slam in a new magazine, the open slide jumps forward and the thing is ready to fire.

It's not a glitch! S&W are aware of it... It's in the book that came with your gun. I think It could be handy in emergency situations... :)

Hmmm-how did I miss that? Thanks! To recover what's left of my reputation, I guess I need to get an M&P 40 now...

This is called "advertising a bug as a feature."

Since the slide should not close until you physically close it the slide closing on magazine insert should always pose the question "Did a round chamber or did I somehow trip the slide stop before the magazine was seated?"

I know what I do. I reach over and cycle the slide manually just like I'd do anyway. No change in procedure or drill. Same procedure every time. So what if a live round is ejected? Stopping and thinking about it takes too long, just do it.

I fired mine for the first time today and after 200 rounds mines does that same thing.
