New to the forum...stopping by to say hello. Just picked a new to me 639 so I'm headed over to the autos section to ask about the mfg date. Looking forward to many hours of good reading about my favorite handguns from all the experts here. My first handgun was a Mod 36, 3" square butt back in about 1972... haven't been without a Smith ever since. I like the older models better...pre lock, pre cast triggers & hammers, etc. Toured the factory a couple times while attending the armorer's school back in about '86...we worked on four inch M65 revolvers and the then new 669 9mm "mini gun."
