Had read how accurate these are.
When I spotted one at Sportsman's Warehouse it was a no brainer.
Especially with their military discount and S&W's $30 rebate. All in for $672.
Figured a good start would be with my favorite 44 Magnum "target" load.
Offhand at 20 yards, with my old eyes, yet.
A definite keeper:

I don't think mine is crazy accurate, I'd call it stupid accurate. If I extrapolate my 25 yd results to 100 I would be putting 5 into a dinner plate without resorting to a sandbag or rest.

I've had 2 since the first quarter of 2014. Like them so much I'm thinking of adding a 3rd (just in case S&W stops making them). Can't shoot offhand like your target, but when I need validation that I'm shooting OK, I go to either my 1911 Les Baer or the S&W M69.

FWIW,

Paul

Just won a Gunbroker auction for a 69. I cannot wait for it to get here and do some shooting. This thread is making me anxious even more.:D

Well, I can't shoot mine that well, but it's my fault, not the guns.

I do know I miss less badly with the 69 than some other guns I've owned. :D

I'm working hard to convince myself I don't need a new 66 now.

I've posted before that there must be some benefit to S&W's two piece tensioned barrel designs. My 69 is as accurate as my 629 6". My new 66 is tied with a 586 as my most accurate 4"-ish revolver. My most accurate handgun is a TRR8.

Taro,

When did you get it? I've had that one on email stock notice forever, and they never notified me. Love their prices and free shipping!

My 66 is the same way -- most accurate handgun I can remember owning in a long time, despite the canted barrel shroud. I think the new K frames are the best value S&W has running today. Congrats on yours!

Agreed with all of the above statements. It makes me alot more confident carrying my Model 69 in the woods knowing I can hit what I aim at accurately to 100 yards. The looks were updated with a set of Herrett's Jordan Trooper stocks. I can't wait to get off the road and go hit the range and woods with mine!
