A few months ago, I ran across this revolver, serial number 5C and am curious about some of the oddities of this gun. Pictures are not mine - they were done by the previous owner.
1) cylinder contour is quite different from others I've seen - was this a factory option or was this a special order?
2) serial number on the frame is followed by a "C" - what could this indicate?
3) stocks have been modified, but appear to have been different than standard to begin with
4) barrel may have been replaced
5) the trigger is deeply checkered
It is in good mechanical condition with good timing and lockup.
The owner is a friend and I'll see him again this weekend.

This one is worth a letter in my opinion. There is a lot of stuff going on with the revolver, some doesn't make apparent sense to the layman and since it is a Target revolver it may letter to a serious competitor. In my opinion, target shooters are a quirky lot. I'd letter it.

I'm guessing it's a .44 from the size of the chambers, however the mixed serial numbers and modifications are a tell tale sign of a parts gun. The cylinder appears to have been altered for some reason that's not apparent to me in the photo. I once owned serial number 6, a nickel non-target gun in .44 Russian, that was standard in all features. Ed.

This revolver is now part of my collection. I received Roy Jinks's letter Saturday indicating this is a very early club gun! That explains the oddities of the gun.

I've looked thru all my Club Gun files and cannot find anything.
I'll keep looking. I won't ask the obvious question. Are you taking it to Spokane? The theme is "If only my gun could talk". I know what yours is saying, it's saying "Sell me to Don, where I can live with all of his Club Guns."

Don,

Roy did not mention whether 0C through 4C are still known to exist. The obvious question is whether you have any of those guns. I'm thinking of checking with the Historical Foundation to see if they have any info, but with no great confidence.
