I purchased mine Jan 31st, My serial number starts with DTU and has the threaded barrel and flash suppressor already. My question is this the more recent model and might already have the fixes for the feed issues? I still have not gotten to shoot mine, work has been so busy.

some of the new ones have been messing up as well. let me just say, and i may be flamed for this, but there arent as many guns messing up as you may think. when i first found this forum i was dreading my decision of even thinking of getting this gun, but have since decided to go ahead and get one. shoot the recommended ammo, clean the gun before shooting, load the mags properly, and you should be alright. i cant say that for every gun but from the most part these seem to be the main issues.

The models with Flash Suppressor are the newest models. I would assume the extractor is the most recent design and the ejector is adjusted to ride tightly against the underside of the bolt like the photo below.

Is your recoil and Hammer Spring's blue in color?

I just opened mine up and the springs are not blue. There also is a small gap in the ejector unlike the pic above where it touches. I was thinking of only using CCI ammo.

from what ive read here and other places and also from what the guy at my local gun shop says (that was a mouthfull) smith and wesson hasnt really been "fixing" anything in the new guns because they dont seem to think anything needs to be fixed. this is strange to me since people on this forum are getting guns back with new parts/mags/etc..

My guess is that they have made changes to the new guns.

The problem would be that the changes haven't gotten to the shelves yet. When I went looking at them about a week ago, the one on the shelf had a SN from last summer/fall. It will probably take awhile for all of the current stock to be distributed and bought up.

be patient and I'm sure the shelves will get ones with the blue springs and such.

my dealer has been ordering per request and still hasnt gotten anything with the new parts in, thats why im still weary as to wether or not i want to order one yet. im wondering if i could ask him to request a newer model from S&W if they would send it or not? guess it would be worth a try

If you order one with the factory installed flash hider it will be the latest version with the upgrades.

Sorry if I don't understand but is the ejector touching the underside of the bolt? Mine is very close but not touching. My serial number is DTU but no flash hider.

Thanks

Thanks Brett!
Hmmm... Mine is close but not that close. I don't have ejecton
Issues but I have had a couple FTF maybe I should look into adjusting it.

If you don't have ejection issues, I'd probably leave it alone.. Failure To Feed can be traced back to the Magazines, how they are loaded, if they are snagging on the mag lips etc.
