The trigger itself is fine just that Im used to a click or feel when it resets so I called Apex and they have a perfect remedy only does not fit MP45 model. What the hell....anyone know of a mod to address this issue ??? Thanks

You can try to bending the trigger bar inward a little if you're feeling daring. Also, check to make sure that you have the H trigger bar and the slide stop lever with the little tab on the inside that pushes in on the trigger bar.

Some have more reset than others. If you find that the reset is impossible for you to feel, then you'll have to decide if that matters to you. With enough shooting, you'll soon be able to work around it pretty easily. The only time I feel the reset on a gun is during very slow fire. If you consciously hunt for the reset with every trigger pull, you'll really slow your progress on ramping up your shooting speed, if that's important to you.

He's talking about the RAM. Not all sear blocks will accept the RAM. The DCAEK is a sear, striker block, and some springs. The RAM is something different.

OP,

Maybe you got a new employee when you called. I've installed 3 of their Duty/Carry Enhancement Kits in M&P .45s, better trigger pull and more defined reset. Check out:

Best of luck
. I can live with the trigger weight, travel etc. Its the lack of any feedback /click feel/ thats a major design fail on SW. Im sure SW has a theory but they just wont share it. LOL. Interesting Ive had "lesser" guns Taurus 845 PT709 , Canik tp9 the latter has a trigger that smokes the factory MP trigger out the water. Funny I knew the cost having a better grip was gona be moding the trigger but I have yet to find a sub 50$ part. Having to pay 1/4 of the gun cost for a trigger mod ensures Glock will always outsell MP.

Aside from the tactile reset, Glock triggers are absolutely nothing to write home about.

Does your gun shoot well and accurately? Is it reliable in it's function? If so, dry fire and live fire the heck out of it.

Way to much emphasis is put on RE-SET of a trigger!!

I just installed the Apex Tactical FSS kit and my M&P 9C is a totally better shooter in every way. There's a choice of 4 or 5 pound trigger springs and the reset is so short you don't need to feel it. It cost me $100 on eBay and I installed it by watching a installation video.

Is it worth $100? It's your money but I think it makes the M&P into a shooter that's would cost at least $100 more. Feels like a high-end SAO 1911, not a striker-fired pistol.

Then sell it, trade it, and get what you like. If it's a G, so be it.

Personally, I think reset is overrated in a HD/SD scenario.

I have four M&Ps, including the FS 45, and never had an issue with felt or audible reset. It may not be as loud as a Glock's, but it's still there. Besides. I can't say I've ever heard it when firing. If you like the FS 45, put in some time with a dry fire routine so you master the trigger.

I just returned from a rained out First shooting session with the MP45, as it turns out its not a bad shooter at all. trigger reset and pull length are very acceptable and most important consistant. Plenty acurate 4" at 7yds was typical. Remi HTP 230g jhp self defense ammo, Monarch 185g jhp brass , Tula 230g steel fmj and Blazer 230 gr brass fmj was used, all ran 100% no mehanical issues at all. The grip is where the M&P shines imo I feel I can shoot longer better with the M&P vs my Glocks. /////Glock should take a page outa the M&P book in that regard. I still have another 450 trouble free rounds to shoot thru the gun before I can trust it enough to carry it in my truck. Im confident it will do fine.

Please take the slide off and look at the slide stop (Here is a picture of the parts and their names if you need/want it: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/341115-m-p-parts-identification.html ).

Which of these does yours look like?

New Slide Stop

The green arrow is pointing to a little protrusion (or not) that was added. It greatly increases the reset feel and sound. If yours is the old version, there is little you can do to improve reset feel or sound. However, if you replace the slide stop with the new version, you will notice a great improvement in reset.

I have the H trigger bar and the newer slide stop on my 9c. There is an audible click at trigger reset.

Mine has the smooth surface. Where did you find this information is there documented before and after pictures or video on this subject on the web ?

Well, I just posted the "before and after" pictures so, I guess it's on the web. ;)

The short version is I spend far too much time on this site. You're not the first to complain about the reset and S&W has heard this complaint. They've made the newer slide stop to address it.

The little protrusion pushes on the trigger bar which makes for a stronger reset. It works and I've upgraded my M&Ps to this new style. Here's a short video I made on how the trigger in the M&P works:

Is this something SW will do no cost if I sent it in ? Or is it so easy I should just do it myself. BTW what's SW typical turn around time for repairs ?

Rastoff ; where can I find the improved slide release for sale or will SW ship it to me ?
