Any help is welcome. My new project consists of getting a few
questions answered first. My plans are to purchase a model 10 revolver and get long bbl installed.
Question 1] is there a difference in frame size [thickness] in a pencil bbl revolver vs. heavy bbl revolver.
Plan is to build a model 10 with a round butt [i like the look]
and install a model 14 bbl in 8 3/8 inch length, possibly cut to7 1/2 inch if front sight has to be modified.
Question 2] A model 14 has a heavy bbl and need to get frame size that matches flow from frame to bbl. Also probably need to consider 4 inch gun so I won't have to get extra ejector rod etc. Tell me what you think and maybe recommend a gunsmith for this project. Don't tell me to just buy this or that gun etc,-'cause I don't mind spending some of my 5 children's inheritance.
thanks for input,

Welcome to the Forum.

The M14 barrel has a grooved rib on top and won't meet up correctly with the fixed sight M10. The pencil barrel and the heavy barrel frames are different due the profiles where the barrels meet the frame. There are also smooth on top.

Of course, if you throw enough money at the project, a M14 barrel could be modified to "flow" into the M10 frame.

The ejector rod will be the same length on a 4" barrel and longer.
