Went to a LGS to pick up a deal on a M&P Sport II. I was a little reluctant to buy one since I already have a Sport I that I really like even at the price they were going for. They also had a big S&W sale on the whole M&P line with two S&W reps to talk to and get trigger jobs done on site. I wound up picking up a new Shield 40 for $325 with a $75 rebate. Talked to the gunsmith about an Apex trigger or one of their trigger jobs. He took the gun out of the box and tried it a few times and he told me that an Apex or anything he could do would not improve the triggers on the latest versions of the Shield line. Told me it would be a waste of money. He gave me some good advise about some other issues I have with one of my other M&P pistols. Real nice guy and a pleasure to talk to.

I think the acquisition of the Shield 40 was a good idea. I just gave my SD40 to my son because he liked it so well and am contemplating purchase of a Shield 40. I have the 9 and 45 in the Shield and like them very much.
But I doubt the 40 will shoot any where's close to the 45!

Congratulations on the 40 Shield!
I just bought one Thursday along with a 9mm Shield and my sixth 45 Shield.
Covered all my bases while the rebate is still on.
Let's hope that they shoot as well as most people say...;)

My Shield in 40 is Awesome

It seems to handle the 40 round better than most other smaller pistols

Another vote for the .40 S&W Shield. I've had mine for four years now and haven't had a minute's trouble with it, including four Retired LEO qualifiers. Great gun and my EDC.

Congrats on the purchase, I don't know if the gs has no experience with apex parts, but there is no better upgrade than the apex. I have it on my full size on my compact and on my shield, the improvement is unbelievable, or you can wait and shoot a couple of hundred rounds and see if it gets better more people said it would after the break in.

The trigger from the Shield 40 is much better than the stock M&Ps from 4-5 years ago, most people can live with the factory trigger (shoot it, it will wear in and get better)

But I did the "Burwell" trigger Job as I am not so patient
