Bought a New Shield yesterday. Went to field strip and clean and lube as I always do on new guns.

Followed manual steps and watched You Tube vids. Seemed pretty routine.

When I get to the step to pull the slide off the frame it moves about 3/4 of an inch and stops. Tried redoing all the steps with same result.

I checked the slide stop spring issue I found when searching. It seems fully seated.

I finally gave it a fairly hard push and it popped off.. Cleaned and lubed . Also pretty tight on reassembly.

Function seem normal once assembled .Planning on firing to day for first time will see if it loosens any.

Any input on what would cause this . This is a possible Glock 43 replacement carry gun , so would like to be confident with it.

Recoil spring binding on frame happens if not seated perfectly on the barrel lug.

Thanks. Checked this also once I got the slide removed. Seems to be getting a little easier the more I do it , but still hangs at the same spot. Danged if I can see why.

Plan on shooting 100 rounds today . Hopefully it loosens up .
Just not the first impression you want on a new gun

Following up . Put 100 rounds trough The Shield plus today. Ran flawlessly with both mags. Sights are dead on with a 6 o'clock hold . Shot a couple of mags through the Glock 43 just to compare.

Have to say I shot the Shield just as well maybe a little better. I have been carrying and and shooting the Glock for many years. I'll put another couple hundred through and some carry ammo. Looks promising to be the Glocks replacement.

As to the slide issue. Field stripped when I got home. Still comes to a stop around 3/4" forward. Then a FIRM push and it slides off. Perhaps a little easier than before.

Still can see what is stopping it. But doesn't seem to affect Function. Will keep checking for signs of wear.

Don't see it mentioned but did you remember to lower the sear deactivation lever?

Don't remember the page in "Disassembly" but it's figures 42&43. It doesn't say why but one would assume there's a reason for doing it.

Happened to me first time. It's easy to miss this part.

Yes I did lower it. Getting a little better each time I field strip. Just tight at the same spot 3/4" off frame. A hard push over this spot and slides right off. As long as it functions and doesn't wear anything I good.
Thanks
