So I got my Shield Friday night, bought some 115 blazer brass target ammo and got to the range today. The gun performed flawlessly, it ate and spit out all one hundred rounds. I really like this gun and when I do my part it is accurate.

I am happy with this since it is only the fourth time shooting a handgun and the second time shooting the Shield. Need to work on my grip and trigger pull. But I will practice when I can.

Below I was aiming at different areas of the target but I know I had some lows one but I think that is pulling the trigger.

All shots taken at around 25'.

CONGRATs on your new Shield ! I love mine ! The common issue is low and left with the shots. Most of the time it is trigger control and finger placement! Like anything Practice
practice :) IMO you have some pretty nice shots that would make the bad guy have a bad day lol
I had mix 6 months or so. Also Look into TALON grip tape IMO gives a way better feel on the grips

I have some talon grip tape on order. Should be here next week.

When I added the Talon Tape to the Shield I liked it so much I ordered a set got my Ruger SR9E :) I also got the tape for the magazine extension! IMO all over priced for what you get but so are Motorcycle parts, We have toys so the prices is high for our toys lol .
FYI on the grip tape if you never installed a set before. Wipe the grip well with the alcohol pads , Heat the tape 2 /3 times with your hair dryer after set in place and press/squeeze.. Also if they do not fit the first time you may have them backwards :O Happened to me and my son lol. Also if I missed your intro WELCOME to the group

I've been following your forum posts regarding your decision making process. I'm glad to see you've decided to buy the Shield. I've had mine now for about 2 years and over 1.000 rounds down range. I had some initial issues that I believe were grip related, but it has been flawless since resolving them. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Good shooting

Just to be clear, you put the grip tape on, get it all straight and where you want it, and then heat it with a hair dryer. I love the stuff. The accuracy of their cuts is amazing, and once on, you can't hardly tell it's there by looking at it.

Yes you heat the tape up till hot to touch! You press and mold to shape , Thats what they say in the instructions , and on here in a thread I was told to heat it a couple time s more after to help set the glue. Had mine on about 5 /6 months and still solid :) I agree with you they cut them perfect

hair dryers and guns. still trying to get my head around it.

LOL Yea I said the same thing when I read it! BUT the gun is un loaded and not baked in the oven :O Just Hot to touch not melting touch :)

Congrats I've got about 400 rounds through mine now. I'm left handed so I tend to shoot low right. I have the Ma compliant 10 pound trigger to deal with, I know I'm snapping my wrist a bit when I fire :( I have talon grips on mine and the pearson grip extension on the 7 round mag. I really like this gun but I need to have the trigger done to be more in the 5-6 pound range. I did that to my FS .40 and now I feel like a sniper with it compared to the shield.

Thanks, going to keep shooting when I can and get better at it. My brother in law is also getting his permit and first gun so it will be a lot easier to go to the range with him when his comes in.

Another 100 down range this time with 124 grain ammo. No feed or ejections issues.

Did you notice any difference with the 124 grain ammo? I've only been shooting 115 (mostly WWB) with mine and just picked up 100 rounds of american eagle 124 and 20 of HP (Federal) one of my local stores had the 'training" kits so I picked one up. I've read that the shield shoots more accurately with 124 grain. I'm curious if you noticed any difference.

I did notice a little better accuracy I think. I still suck at shooting so hard to tell.

are you left handed by any chance?
I am and if I don't really pay attention to my grip and my trigger pull I shoot my shield almost exactly the same way.
Low and to the right (at 15 yards), I tend to overly squeeze the trigger and somewhat snap my wrist down , just a bit.

I don't do it with my FS .40 though.

Yes left handed and yes I am have trigger control issues. I think I flinch and anticipate the shot. The ones in the circle I concentrated on the trigger.

I think after I know the gun will work without issues I am only going to shoot 25-50 rounds per session. Not sure it will help but maybe less rounds and really take my time when getting sight alignment and trigger control.
