The new Ruger SP 101 in .327 fed on their webpage looks good, 4.2" barrel and adj sights. Anyone actually seen one?
I just received the email notification from Ruger today. Right idea, wrong product. Though the 4.2 inch, adjustable sight gun may appeal to some I think their marketing department missed the boat. Offer the 6 shot 327 in the 2.25", bobbed DAO carry snub and you would have a hit. Maybe we might see one.
The ballistics of a 2.25" barrel vs: 4.2" barrel are quite interesting in this caliber. Around 1,000 fps for a 100-115 gr bullet out of the 2.25 and 1450-1600 fps out of the 4.2" (approx for the extra .2", might be 1500-1650)
which means you are pretty close to H&R specs out of the shorter barrel. I think this caliber really needs that extra barrel length at least in the factory loads. I might like to try one of these critters.
That's quite a drop. It should still be a good night time SD gun. Just point it in the general direction of the bad guy, close your eyes & shoot. He'll still be blind when the police arrive.
