new to me 3913

Awesome. I was discovering about the NL model as you were writing this post and I posted a WTB in the ads forum just a minute ago. What do you think a fair price for one in good condition is right now?
I bought one recently.. so I wouldn't look gay carrying a LS;);)
They are running $600 plus or minus. I paid $610 for mine. With original box and 2 factory. It was pristine. The one on GB that same day went for $685. I am sure if you are patient and shop you can do better. But anyone who owns one and does there home work won't let one go for less than $500. They didn't make very many of them so supply and demand kicks in. They only made the 3913NL from 1991-1994. The 3914NL is even harder to find. They only made that in 1991.
They made the 3913LS from 1990 -2006 so there are a lot more of them out there. I bought mine with investment in mind. But I still shoot it...so does the wife:)

To be honest with you all, of the four I posted a picture of, the standard 3913 with Hogues is the best shooter of the bunch with the 3914 as the next best. I am left handed so the Lady Smith is the wifes, but she still carries her PPK/S. I like the ambi safety. For concealment the 3913 TSW is the best with the shorter grip and flat base magazine.

Another difference of the LS and NL besides the single safety and the angled dust cover is the front of the slide has a different angle cut to match the dust cover.

I had a 3913 years ago and stupidly sold it, but I corrected that mistake this week with a spotless standard 3913. A LAdySmith wouldn't even be considered, and it has nothing to do with the logo. That slanted dustcover just looks wrong to me, and the grey grips are ugly. Plus, I've never seen one with the flash chromed trigger and hammer. I hate black parts on a stainless gun.

That's why they make more than one kind of gun/ color for the same caliber...to each his / her own:) I had a 3913 and sold it. I hated the ambi safety. The 3913 LS/NL is set up correctly for CCW for a right hander with the safety only on the one side. .. IMO:) I will say that as far as a shooter the 3913 was great. And..it's a couple hundred $ cheaper. I bought the standard 3913 for $350. Sold it a month later for $425 after I got the 3913NL.

:( awww... the grey grips are the aesthetically pleasing part to me. Other than that, I too appreciate the safety/decocker only on the inside (for a righty, carrying CCW on strong side). Making the NL or LS nearly perfect for me that loves 3rd Gens. I'm only 30, so I'm late to the party and now I'm going to have to pay a premium to snatch up a couple more. I will never make the mistake of letting my 6906 go.

The grey LS/NL grips will fit any of the 39xx models. The grip PN is 203640000 and the grip pin is 202650000. I don't know if the grey are priced differently, but the last time I ordered the regular grips from S&W they were less than twenty bucks.

My 3914

Bought from a forum member. S&W wants "about $120" plus shipping both ways to remove the right side decocker lever. My local smith can't get the parts..."restricted." I can handle the $120, shipping is a deal breaker. Maybe if I save enough pennies and another gun doesn't follow me home...

Congrats on the purchase of one of S&W's finest pistols. Just be careful, the 3913 and 3914 can get addicting.

The one on the bottom is sort of rare, I was told, only made about a year or so. Flush fit on the bottom, with mag of course, and pre-rail :D

If all goes as planned I'll have a "new to me" 3913LS as well in just a few more days. Not sure if I will get to carry it or if my wife will carry it more. She's partial to what she already carries... So we'll see.

Thanks for everyone's advice! A 3914 would be awesome to find as well, but I guess they are pretty rare. I do like most 3rd gens though and also wouldn't mind finding a CS45 next either. I figure either 3914 or CS45 is nigh impossible though...

I put a deposit on a plain old 3913 and will probably pick it up in a day or two. There is no box but there are two mags. It looks to me to be a great carry piece.

So, is the only difference between the 3913 LadySmith and the others the color of the grips? How wrong is it that I'm a dude but think that the LadySmith with those gray grips looks totally awesome. Would it be incredibly gay if I wanted one?
"LadySmith" doesn't bother me, but when I see "Tactical" on something --- I just won't buy it!!

I have a 3914LS on my hip as I type this...LOL

My GF purchased it, but I carry it more than she does.

The 3913LS came in and we picked it up. It looks good. I won't have a chance to get a range with it for about another week. I will let you guys know how I like it and try to post a picture once I make it out there.
