just spent a little time at a local pawn shop trying to decide between a model 64-3 or a nickel 586. Chose to buy the 586. ABF serial number prefix and from what i can tell by the SCSW 3rd edition it is a late 1982 or early 1983 gun. The finish is in decent shape, Action feels good, no mechanical issues i can find. It does not have the M stamp so i'll eventually find out if its good to go as is or not. no box and had some ugly Hogue grips that i immediately replaced with a set Of Grashorn grips. I know how much all of you love pictures so here it is.

Nice addition. It must be nice to actually have revolver choices in a gun store nowadays. Enjoy.

OH YES! That looks COOL to me! I have a no dash 4" blue from 1983. Won't send it back unless I have to. Enjoy your 586! Bob

I have a 4" Nickel 586. Can someone tell me what year it is? AUN serial number.

Very nice. I have a blue no dash 586, they are great guns. I'm sure you will enjoy it. That nickel is really nice.

Very nice gun...I've been collecting no dash L frames for a long time now, and have 9 or 10 of them. The only ones I would like to add to my safe are an early 6 inch 586 with a Patridge front sight, and your 4 inch nickel version. I wouldn't send it back, I've never had any problems.

Congratulations on the purchase as that is a beauty and I love nickel S&W revolvers

I have a 4" Nickel 586......AUN[xxxx] serial number.
June - August 1986

If you have the box for that bad boy, post the Product Code and Spec. Ord. number. I know it's a long shot, but I've gotta ask. Don't see an in-the-box 4-inch nickel no-dashes everyday. The -1's were shipping by mid August, so you got one of the last no-dashes.
