I wanted to share my latest find. I stopped in a local shop on my way to the range today and spotted a 6" model 19 in the case. What also caught my attention was the price, $299. The gun was wearing a pair of square-bottomed factory magnas, obviously the wrong grips. It had no box or papers. It turned out to be a pinned & recessed model 19-3. It was also filthy inside, as if someone fired a couple of cylinders of wadcutters and put it away dirty. It showed no outward signs of abuse, and the finish showed only some muzzle wear, and a turn-line on the cylinder. I really didn't NEED a 6" 19, I mean I had thought about one to go with my 2 1/2" and 4" combat magnums, but when I found a 6" model 14-3 a couple of months ago, I didn't persue the search. I felt the 14 would fill that role as I would be firing +P .38s in the 19 anyway. This Smith obviously needed a good home and a good cleaning, and I just couldn't resist the price, so it came home with me for $299. I also happened to have a box from a 6" model 19 in storage in my gun room as well as an instruction booklet. What better reason could one have to buy a gun than to have a box to fill, huh? I took a couple of quick pics after I cleaned it up and changed out the grips for a set of correct factory targets from my grip box. Serial # is 7K69xxx, dating it to 1975, according to SCSW. I think I got a good deal, as I have seen 19s going for way more. What do you guys think? Also, for some reason, the 19 feels heavier to me than the 14, even though both revolvers have the heavy bull barrel. I'm not sure why, the ejector rod shroud, perhaps? Anyway, here's the pics:

You should be locked up for stealing, nice find. I paid that price last year for one of my 19s. 300 bucks now days buys junk most of the time; when you get a deal like this one you just got to .........

Good looking gun and a great price. A friend let me shoot his 6" 19 not too long ago and I really liked it. I guess I should make him an offer on it. I doubt he will let his go though, I know it is his favorite revolver and he has more revolvers than a person can count on their fingers and toes combined.

What a wonderful find and I'm extremely jealous because I live in a small town and nothing like this ever shows up. Most gun shops here won't even carry used guns and the pawn shops seem to get the dredges.

I bought the same gun yesterday, but it cost me $375.00. very tight, with a little holster wear.

Nice gun and nice price! You now have a gun thats lightly broken in enough that you can't have any reservations about shooting the pants out of it.

Great deal on a great gun,I have one like that in the box and I would not take less than $450.00 for it and that would have to be to someone I really liked.

I have a 6", 19-3 exactly like it, except that mine has a little more holster wear.

Very nice gun. I love mine.
