Local gun show did me well last weekend. Found a boxed example of a 629 classic hunter in primo condition. It was wearing a set of wood hogue finger groove grips when I bought it. I suppose the benefit to a gun that shipped in hogues, is that it is not expensive to find an original set. Set me back $17 for an era correct set of hogues courtesy of ebay.

Right or wrong, I like putting nice grips on guns. I also snagged this set of smooth targets at the show. Was intending to use them on a different gun, but the N combats I wanted to put on this one don't fit well at all. Slapped the smooth targets on for grins, and I don't think I'll be taking them off.

At the moment, I think the grips are Rosewood. Would be curious to know if the forum agrees. Silver washer.

You seem them occasionally on GB. Usually in the $1500-$2000 range. The 629 seems to be a bit cheaper than the 29
I've seen them posted up there, just haven't had the motivation to pay market price for one yet. I suppose I'm a little extra motivated now, but will have to wait for the wallet to recover from a busy weekend. I have a couple more posts to make. :)

Good looking Grips!
These grips came on this gun, never around to install anything different.
Heck, the hogues probably shoot better than any of the wood stuff anyway. If I was planning to take this out in the field, I'd swap it back to the hogues.

Thanks for the pic of the grips. Looks like I bought the right set. Seller knew Smith and Wessons pretty well and told me he thought it should have the high rise rubber hogues. I'd bet he is a forum member lurking around somewhere. I know the dude that sold me the smooth target grips is on here somewhere as well.
