Just picked up a Model 66-1. SN#98K91XX, its got me puzzled. It has no pinned barrel, but it does have a recessed cylinder. Whats up with this? The frame has no hole for a pin to be in. Do I have a mixmaster 66 or what? Help! By the way $455.00 OTD. Haven't shot it yet, probably tomorrow. Just gave it a good cleaning. It is a 2.5 inch bbl Thanks in advance.

"Transitional" guns exhibiting features of two different revisions are not uncommon,
Usually they were made during a transition resulting in mixed features,
In your case they probably still had dash 1 recessed cylinders left that they used with the new dash 2 non pinned barrel / frame.

Sounds like the real problem with your "transitional" model was the shop owner got the price wrong:) Have you seen snubbie prices? I think you did really well.

Great piece at a great price - congratulations! I have 66-1 snubbie 94K31XX, and it looks like both of our pieces where manufactured in early 1981. So pretty close to pinning down (sorry) the date for the non-pinned change for these.

A transitional piece at a great price! Congrats on the find. I love my M66-1.
