New to me 686

Hello I bought a used 686-5 today and just found the forum and look forward to learning a lot here about my new baby.
I'd like to know when it was made the serial # is cdr72xx.
It's a plus model with a 6" barrel.
And anything else about this particular gun I should look for as to issues or maintenance?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There are a lot of 686 fans here. If there are any issues, they will most likely be specific to your gun. By the time the dash 5s came out, most design issues with the 686 have been worked out already. You have a great gun that will give you years and years of fun and enjoyment.

I recently bought a 686 as well. My first revolver and also my first S&W. I love this gun. I hope you like yours as much as I do mine.

Thanks for the quick replys I really appreciate the info.
So now was $499 a bad deal or did I do ok?
I know here in South Carolina anyway it's $750 and up for a new one. I didn't want to spend that much and really preferred not to have the lock.
I know I'm happy and saved $250 for ammo or flowers for the wife because I bought another gun.
