New to me, USAF Model 15-2 *Holster & Dump Pouch photos added*

And here is the holster & dump pouch. The holster looks like it has never seen a gun placed in it, the ammo pouch might have seen use but not much.

No worries kwill1911, all good stories.

Most of my research pointed to most of these being destroyed by the AF, but some were sold/transferred to local PD or other agency's.

I used some CLP on the grips to get the green gunk out of the S&W medallions & that made a big difference. The wood shined up nicely after that also. I had a gunsmith friend of mine look at it a couple weeks ago & he said it has the factory springs inside. I just know it's smoother than any other factory setup I own.

Most likely its "Smoother" because we Dry Fired the heck out of them during OTS (1967). I certainly am in the envy club as it was my side arm in SEA 68-69. Enjoy !!

I used to see M15s in the holsters of gate guards at K.I. Sawyer AFB
outside Marquette.
I was shooting NRA Hunter's Pistol Silhouette matches there at the time.
Shot my first "combat" pistol match there too.

Most of the guns looked OK but there was one long-barreled revolver
(M15 or M14?) that was all rusted. Always wondered how that
happened but never found out.

When the base was closed the range was destroyed. This despite the
fact that a regional police academy was setting up operations on the
old base shortly after the closing.

Very cool. I need to get one to give to my FIL who is a Vietnam combat vet. I looked at the last gun show and didnt have enough on me to give it to him. If i recall, it was around $1K, I dont know if that is in the ball park or not; but, seemed high.

Unfortunately, if it is a U.S.A.F. Model 15, $1K is not near enough.:(

Bgrafsr those look great! Where did you get the cases made? The 15-1 was a N frame case by the looks? The 15-2 one looks custom to my eyes. After seeing them I would like one for mine.

Just thinking out loud here, but yours would look great in a shadow box along with all your other bits, bobs, and the requisite flag at retirement time. Have to figure out a nifty way to extract it easily to take it to the range.

I had Joe Cebull (jcelect) from the Forum redo an extra S&W case I had, and the other one I bought from him. A local trophy/engraving shop did the brass plates for the case lids.
