Good morning from NH... I just bought my first gun! After a lot of research I picked up the M&P 22. This thing is awesome! The only thing is I cant seem to find any ammo for it anywhere! I am looking to start stocking up on practice ammo, and of course was looking to pick up something more geared towards home defense. While I completely understand a .22 is not going to do much in the way of home defense it certainly will not hurt to have some better ammo on hand until I can pick up my next handgun (9mm). I got the M&P 22 mainly because my wife would like to learn to shoot. I also figured it would be good to get something that was cheap on ammo, and of course would allow her to learn on something without the recoil of a larger caliber. If anyone knows of a place online to order some .22 ammo please share the link... Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Thanks
Andrew

I found some 40 grain HP Winchester super x at Able Ammo (Internet) a while back. Try them.

Thanks for the tip on Able Ammo zip777. Ive been to the website, as it seems just about every other website in the last 48 hours to try and find ammo with no luck. Some of the websites have actually aloud me to put in my email to notify me when the ammo is back in stock which is nice but does not help me now... I'm gonna keep looking!

Welcome fellow granite stater, I don't know where you are in NH, but the Rochester walmart has had sporadic sightings of 22lr....I just bought 2 525 round boxes last week. If you're diligent, it can't be found, and when you do, buy all you can, it goes quick:cool:

I'm actually not that far from that Wal-Mart... What did you pay for it per box? I went in a few weeks ago with no luck. I will have to go check again. Thanks

Welcome!

Snubby, which panhandle you from?

Yeah I looked and saw it was gone. Try www.ammoseek.com as well. Not real time inventory data but sometimes you get lucky!

Welcome from NC,

Best of luck in your quest for ammo

Welcome from the land of "Cool Sunshine". Keep checking at Wally World,,,they are getting re-stocked a little here and there.

Try calling the range where you plan to shoot. I also can't find any ammo. But the range that I go to keeps ammo in stock for the people using the range with a two box limit. Worth a try. At least you will get some shooting time. Good Luck and welcome to the forum. I also have the M&P22, its a great gun and gets better as you break it in.

Welcome from another Live Free or Die resident :)

In regards to Walmart......what I do is go on their website and do a search for .22. It will tell you which stores within a 50 mile radius of the zip code you enter have it in stock. While not absolute it is pretty good and saves you time running all over the state looking for ammo.

I was able to find 500 rounds of Federal 9mm today thanks to the website. BUT when in doubt always ask. I was in Salem today and the shelves were barren. Woman asked what I was looking for. I said 9 but said your website said out of stock. Well she had a crapload of 9 and 223 as well

Enjoy that 22! I've been looking to add one :)

Welcome from Texas Andrew. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Patience my new brother in arms. The feeding frenzy will subside, I just do not know when. The last one was about 9 months to a year before the pipeline started to catch up.

This is a good idea plus if you bought the gun at a local (bricks and mortar) store, go to that store and see if they can help you out. I was at Dicks sporting goods and they had some but as others have said, it's crazy right now and you just have to keep looking.

Scored big today guys! Happened to stop in at one of the local gun shops and walked out with a 500 round brick of CCI Standard Velocity. Pickings were slim and Standard is all they had but I am pleased. Think I'm gonna go back next week for another.
