Welcome

Hey there,
Its always good to hear of another UK owner of this excellent .22lr...how new to the rifle are you? what modifications and accessories have you got or earmarked for getting? It can be quite expensive and frustrating for us this side of the pond...everything is so expensive and most of it is ITAR restricted. However it can be got and can make for a very addictive endeavour.
Any questions regarding this rifle, you are in the right place, lots of friendly peeps with good advice and experience.
Happy safe shooting :)
Pics of your 15-22 are always welcome:)

Welcome to the madness from another UK owner.

GM is right. Very addictive little pastime.

Parts are out there and even over here if u know where to look. ;)

Any thing I can help with let me know. Advice etc I'll help if possible.

Most things can be gotten hold of eventually.

It's always nice to greet a noob on the site. :D

I look forward to seeing your pics and watching your obsession grow.

The story so far.

Thanks for the welcome guys, great to hear from you.

I have had my 15-22 for about a year and a half and have changed a few bits here and there. I bought the standard version because of the parts I wanted to put on her.

The list so far:-
Magpul CTR stock
Magpul pistol grip
Magpul XTM rail panels
Fab Defense fore grip
Plinker Tactical charging handle
Hiperfire 24C trigger
Mbus sights (Ebay Knockoff - Just for show)
Vortex PST 1-4x24 scope
Burris P.E.P.R. scope mount
2 X Plinker Tactical 35 round mags along will 3 X 25 round mags
Spikes Tactical barrel shroud.

Favourite ammo - CCI AR Tactical.

Oh how I love this little gun.

The story so far 2

I think the only thing that I'd like to change is the barrel shroud. The Spikes Tac. is nice but I'd really like a thicker shroud as shown on the Kineti-tech web site. Sad story, they don't ship to the UK, so looking for other options.

It will be my first trip to the range tomorrow since I fitted the Hiperfire trigger, looking forward to seeing how she feels.

I'll put up a photo of my 15-22 as soon as I can.

welcome aboard pal! you made a good/bad choice joining this forum. lots of things to spend money on, and lots of great info/advice.

The kenetitech shrouds are very nice I have to say. Though somewhat difficult to get a hold of. :D

Welcome, and nice rifle turnout.

I have the hipertouch trigger on my "precision" 556 AR. I really like it a lot. I found it to be very crisp with little to no "staging" travel followed by a nice feeling reset. I use the lightest springs, given the use of that particular rifle. I'll be interested in hearing what you think.

I would love to visit the UK and meet up for a 15-22 shoot!

You want to have a chat with Hereford, he will undoubtedly see your post and will comment...he makes shrouds very much like Kineti-techs...

Hi GhostMutt,

I did send Hereford an email after seeing the shrouds he makes but had nothing back so far. Hope to hear from him, his shrouds looks great.

Hipertouch 24C

Hi Vividia,

At the range today and got to shoot with the Hipertouch trigger for the first time. What can I say, what a difference. I had previouslly fitter JP springs and polished the stock trigger on the 15-22 and that improved the feel quite a bit.
However it still wasn't brilliant and after reading a review of the Hipertouch triggers and finding a supplier here in the UK that had a 24C in stock, I just wanted to give it a go.
Like you, I have the lightest springs installed and the overall feel and performance is outstanding. One other little benefit is that when I fast fire, it goes like a full auto :D. I mean it was fast before but oh boy she does rock n roll now!
Great trigger, highly recommended.

hi

Hi Rich welcome!
looks like you have everything pretty much sorted on your 15/22.
I have not heard of the Hiperfire trigger before, did you source it here in the UK?
what's it like ? Cheers

Hi stonecutter, thanks for the welcome.
I think the Hipertouch 24C is a brilliant trigger, it comes with three sets of springs and I am using the lightest ones which gives a trigger pull of just over 2lbs. Time to remove the stock trigger and install the Hipertouch was about 10mins. Fired my M&P with this trigger fitted today for the first time and I think it's great, very crisp and fast lockup.
There are a good few videos on YouTube that will give you a much better insight into this trigger system than I can.
Oh and yes got it here in the UK from Adam Williams of AW Armoury, a great guy to deal with and very helpful.
Hope this helps.
RRich

Just looked at all the gumpf online and that trigger looks really good...if its not to personal...how much? Cannot find anything about it on AW website. Do you have the 'hipershoe' installed and how does that feel?

No the trigger is not shown on his site, just email Adam and he'll let you know if he has any in stock or when he expects them in.
Yes the 24C comes complete with the Hypershoe and pins. The Hypershoe is great, you can adjust it to various positions and I have mine set on the first position. This lightens the trigger pull even more and means that your finger is in the same place each time making your trigger pull more consistent.
I can't say how it compares against other aftermarket triggers but I can vouch for it being light, crisp break and very fast reset.
As I mentioned, I polished the faces and fitted JP springs to my stock trigger, this is so much better and I would give it my full recommendation.
Oh and one other thing, being someone with two hands of thumbs, very easy to install:)

Sorry GhostMutt, cost £200 and that covered the postage too.
This trigger seems popular with 3 gunners in the states.

Hi Rich

Would love an update regarding the 24c trigger system, I got in contact with AW, but they only have CMC drop ins in stock and he is waiting on the company to sort out export licence.
Of all the trigger systems available I really like the idea behind the 24c and my only concern is with light strikes, which the heavier hammer strike should sort out....so I would love to hear your opinion on your new trigger setup now you have had some quality trigger time. :)

Hey GhostMutt, sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you.
I've put about 500+ rounds through the M&P since I installed the Hiperfire trigger and in a word, brilliant.
Although I have been having some problems with my latest batch of CCI AR Tactical ammo, this is not down to the trigger. I tried it through another gun (K22 X-Trim) and had the same problems - neither gun had problems with my last batch. When I switched to CCI Mini Mags, both no longer had problems. By the way, the first strike on the AR Tactical rounds were good hard strikes and all rounds fired on the second attempt.
As I mentioned, I have the lightest set of springs fitted to the trigger but this only reduces the trigger pull, not the hammer. I would say that the hammer strike has more force behind it than the stock trigger did.
So all I can say is that the Hiperfire is a great trigger that I would happily recommend to anyone that's thinking of fitting an aftermarket unit to their 15-22 or AR15.
Sorry to hear AW doesn't have any in stock, he's a great guy to deal with and I'm sure he'll help you out as soon as he can.

I just received and installed the Hipertouch 24c into my 15-22

Install took 10 minutes (no experience here.. someone with experience it would be much faster)

The trigger feels amazing compared to the stock trigger.. can't wait to shoot it tomorrow!

question:
the pivot pins that come with the 24c.. they are not flush with the lower receiver when installed (like the original pins were).. mine are recessed on both sides.. like the pins are too short. seems if they are nudged to either side they will come out..

for the folks with 24c and 15-22.. are yours like that as well? cause for concern?

I installed the natural color springs..

Blue springs (.026" wire) 3.8# trigger pull
Yellow springs (.030" wire) 3.4# trigger pull
Natural springs (.035" wire) 2.2# trigger pull

man... not a lot of love for my new 15-22 yet.. in fact, i named it jam-o-matic today at the range.. i've got 10 mags through it, various ammo, and have not been through one mag without a jam yet. today was especially bad.

i took photos of the jams.. not sure how to upload.. but it appears a round fires, then starts to get ejected but doesn't quite make it out of the gun before the next round is chambered.. so a live round does get chambered about 3/4 of the way, and the spent round is sticking halfway out of the gun.

i did read just now also about not holding the mag or leaning anything on it while firing.. perhaps i was holding it like that.. will try again tomorrow.

it was also not holding open on the last round for most of the time (I just read about clipping the spring so will try that)

seems a new firearm these issues shouldn't be happening.. ugh

Also might want to verify your trigger & hammer pins aren't walking. You didn't specify which ammo you used but I suggest shooting some CCI just as a test. I also suggest not using hollow point.

I seem to recall a thread on here about 'nudging' the ejector over a little to make sure it is fully ejecting the spent brass, but I may have dreamt it. To be having that many jams with different brands of ammo, kinds of suggests it may be an issue with the rifle. I used to use Aguila (cheap and nasty) but since moving to Eley sport, I noticed marked improvements in consistency and accuracy. Possible that your hold on the mag well of the rifle could be effecting things. Make sure your rounds are staggered when loading mags, but also try and hunt that thread about the ejector.
Not sure if this may help but I think this is what I saw

walking.. as in sliding out of the frame? i was keeping an eye on that as the pins are slightly shorter than the frame is wide. they were solid though and didn't move

shooting federal automatch today in the 5 mags i shot. ya know, i did lay the rifle on the range bag while i set the targets up. when i came back the rifle had fallen off the bag and into 1 1/2 foot of snow (it was totally covered in snow. i should have taken a pic hah). i did the best i could to clean it out.. perhaps that could have been causing some issues. all cleaned up now and will head back to the range tomorrow with some cci

i do think i was holding, or leaning against the mag today as well. i brought a monopod w/ rubber v mount to hold the rifle up.. and while doing that i think i was pressing the monopod against the mag to stabilize. will keep that in mind tomorrow.

thanks!

Hi to all and a Happy New Year.

rweller68, yes the pins that come with the 24C are a bit shorter than the standard. I checked this out with the supplier, who also has this trigger fitted to his 15-22 and was informed that I should use the pins that come with the 24C. Even though they are shorter I have not had any problems with them walking.
I have the lightest springs fitted and just love the improvement this has made.
Sorry to hear about your problem with jams, hope you get it sorted out.
