Hello, I am the proud new father to a S&W 910s that I purchased 4 days ago. Now, I don't know a whole lot about guns, I have fired a few diffrent types (including a hi-point that was like aming a brick!) and found this 910s for $400 and thought it was a pretty good deal for my first ever purchase. came with 2 mags, case, cleaning kit and a small pistol safe (about a $30 one from what I can tell. so, any thoughts? think I did good ro did I get hosed on this 9?
Also, I would like to get a laser sight but all I have found are the crimson trace for about $300. Considering that is almost what I spent, it seems kinda high to me.

Welcome to the forum.

First thing to do is buy lotsa ammo and shoot that thing to death. Lots of practice before you start adding bells a whistles learn to use the sights a lazer can fail batteries die don't handicap yourself. Some have trouble with the smaller guns w/short sight radius. So shoot it and make sure that the 910 is for you.

As far as price not sure I can help you there. I have never priced the 910. Test fired one for a fellow that was having trouble hitting with it. It was not the gun.

no trouble shooting

I have had no trouble shooting it, I can nail the bulls eye @ 15-20 yds, a little bit off at 30 but improving. I have had people tell me they use a laser for dry fire practice to help with control and muscle memory. the only problem I have had is that I shoot at my brothers house and is is about 20 degrees!!!

Good start. I don't use a laser but I suppose that could help. I practice while watching TV sometimes Just point and see how close I come to what I point at. Snapping to see how much I pull off. But that is not really a substitute for live fire. I hate the cold weather and anything under 60 I consider cold.lol

Good luck and keep shooting.

As has been mentioned, buy ammo and shoot it. Learn and practice to handle it SAFELY, effectively and accurately. You didn't mention magazines.
You probably have two. If not, buy several more. Magazines are a weak point with any magazine fed semi-auto firearm so get at least three. Learn how your pistol functions and how to properly disassemble and clean it, SAFELY. Then again, shoot often, SAFELY. Since you live in Paw Paw, there are a number of gun clubs in your area that host IDPA (international defensive pistol assoc) matches designed for defensive use of the handgun. I would suggest you go to the Michigan Gun Owners website
Michigan Gun Owners
They have a wealth of information of which you can avail yourself on all sorts of subjects. Dennis
