I'm new here and having trouble locating an old thread I stumbled upon a few days ago. The subject was building a K frame 32 by modifying a 22 cylinder and lining a 38 barrel. I'm interested in the idea but I can't find the thread. I have searched several combinations of keywords with no luck. HELP!

Thanks

I have had two of these done. I used a Model 14 and a Model 15 along with .22 caliber K frame cylinders and Model 16-4 barrels. The parts were sourced on eBay. Andy Horvath did the hard part and made everything work flawlessly. The other forum member that was the prime enabler was green frog

How did you match up the barrels on the 15 frame, with the cut for the narrow rib?

would a k22 cylinder opened to 32 s&w Long work in model of 1905 32-20 as a start of a 32 in a K frame?
Paplinker asked the same question but could not get a clear answer. I measured some cylinders in my collection and it looked possible. If you have a cylinder and the k frame 32-20 you could test fit it. Using the 32-20 simplifies the process for sure.

Green Frog has done a couple of conversions. Look for his threads.

You might be looking for Muley_Gill’s post. I don’t remember where.

My error the two .327 Federal guns were built on a Model 14-3 and a Model 19-2 frame. Due to no ejector rod shroud on the 14 there is a slight mismatch of the barrel to frame but the fit on the 19 was excellent.

Here's my K327.
Pre-15 frame, 16-4 barrel, K22 cylinder, vintage Leupold with Beuhler mount and rings. I also have a .32-20 cylinder for it. Hamilton Bowen did the work for me before he stopped working on Smiths. I live a couple hours from him.

Since the .32 Long is straight-walled and the .32-20 bottlenecked, wouldn’t the latter cylinder have to be sleeved to convert it?
