Hello!
I just joined. I am not a collector but here recently just started getting interested. A month or so ago I bought a model 14-3. The serial # is 3K90642. I did not get anything with the gun except the pistol itself. My guess is it is a late 70s or early 80s model.
It shoots like no other pistol I have ever fired. It makes me look good.
I have only one problem with it- at times when I reload the cylinder it does not push the thumb piece all the way back so the hammer will not cock.
I will start looking for items to compliment it so any suggestions will be appreciated.
Please tell me if I am not even in the correct category in this forum.
Thanks

Welcome friend, enjoy your S&W endeavor. You might want to look at a thorough cleaning to eliminate that cylinder release problem.

Great revolver and like the poster said above a through cleaning should solve the problem.

You've entered the land of no return!

You've done it now. You've bought a classic S&W revolver...and you liked it! Now there's no turning back. Your statement that you're "not a collector" is no longer valid- you're hooked. The Model 14 is a great, and extremely accurate, .38 spl. wheel gun- you will enjoy it for many years. Now it's just a matter of how soon you'll start adding more to your gun safe.

I think you should look for a second job. Now that you have a 14 you need a K22, 66 no dash,a model 10 and on and on the list goes. One thing don't get the book,STANDARD CATALOG of SMITH & WESSON by Supica and Nahas. With this great book you will learn every thing you will need to know about the S&W revolvers but you will see page after page of revolvers and pistols you will need. This has happened to all of us here ,you get one and that is never enough.
