Newer Model Cylinder/Thumb Latch

Please forgive my ignorance in asking this question, but I'd like to know if the newer style thumb latch will easily fit older S&W revolvers, such as the 19-3 or 686-3? Also are they the same or different between frame sizes? Thanks. -Ed. [email protected].

Yes they will fit. They are all the same size, except the Js which are different.

Yes. Just has to be for a J frame. Not one for K, L, N frame.

Thanks for the info. I like the new style on my 637-2, and would like to put the same style on my 686-3. Heck, if it comes in chrome and the price is right, I might even put them on my 19-3's. Are there any problems I might encounter or any tips or tricks of which I should be aware, or is a simple remove and replace operation? -Ed.

Just use a properly fitting screwdriver so you don't bugger the screw head.

Actually it's a nut and they're the same. As for where to buy, pick your poison. Midway may have them too. i suppose it's a matter of if there's anything else you need to get also.
