Newest Caliber Ever?

Probably a rehash of the 30 French/ 30 Pederson round. We all know what happened to them! Nothing new under the sun.

Really hoping this is the case.

I could see it being any one of the following:

-extra high-pressue version of 32 ACP mimicking the 38 ACP vs 38 super (if built on the 380 ACP version of the shield ez)
-32 French reboot possibly with slightly longer/shorter case dimension just cause (if built on the 9mm version of the shield ez)
-40 SW/357 Sig necked down to .30 or .32 caliber (mimicking the 40 super being a necked down 45 ACP)

It'll probably be officially announced in a day or 2. Distributers, Wholesalers, Retailers, etc have to be ready for demand once the product is released. Sometimes people start updating their websites with new product pages before the official announcement happens.

Same thing happened with the new S&W 10mm guns.

FWIW I'd be surprised if there's much demand for it... unless they can get a bunch of ammo on the shelves. However, now would be a decent time to introduce a new caliber if you have ammo ready to sell. You can buy this new 30 Super carry and a couple boxes of ammo or a new .380 and no boxes of ammo.

If this was April 1st I'd have taken the OP's post as a joke but I guess it's real from what I see. I'm a Luddite and certainly don't need such a caliber but for the massive number of new gun buyers out there maybe this will be much appreciated. Time will tell.

Would have to be sufficiently different to keep it out of .32 ACP guns.

My thought, but as you say with proprietary massage.

-40 SW/357 Sig necked down to .30 or .32 caliber (mimicking the 40 super being a necked down 45 ACP)

Can't get 10 rounds of anything like that in a EZ. Even 9mm necked down (reinvent .30 Luger) would not increase capacity.

I'll go out on a limb and say this is roughly .32acp lengthened to 9mm case-length dimensions.

These are all attempts by the manufacturers to make money. There really is not any void that is so bad that this cartridge has to fill. Just like the 6.5 Creedmoor was never really needed either, but in it's case it looks like it may be gaining some traction--or at least all the attention it is getting suggests it. Hopefully S&W will succeed.

If this is real my guess is a straight-walled case with .308 to .312 bullet loaded to 380/32 H&R magnum power levels. Sort of a 32 ACP magnum.

The EZ ad lists 10 rounds instead of 8 which wouldn't be possible if it was a necked down 9mm.

That the first gun we know of is a EZ also points to something that is not a semi-auto version of the 327 magnum.

It would be a good cartridge for new shooters or anyone else that does not want to deal with 9mm recoil. While 9mm recoil is not exactly wrist breaking it is enough to intimidate many people. And even experienced shooters often complain about how "snappy" small 9mms like the Sig P365 are. Same goes for even smaller and lighter 380s like the Ruger LCP.

They could design it to use a heavy for caliber bullet with fast burning powder which is more efficient in short barrels and reduces muzzle blast. New shooters often find muzzle blast just as intimidating as recoil.

A 25% increase in capacity would also be a selling point.

Its going to have a hard time getting traction in a market with a lot of well established choices. But if it is done right a combination of low recoil and higher capacity will probably be enough for it to survive.

While us enthusiasts might prefer something much hotter how many of us own something chambered in 7.62 Tokarev?

Could be cool, I have been interested in a 32 "magnum" auto cartridge since I got into the 327. Lots of potential there imo.
