Newly announced J frame. 360

I don't see an $800 gun here. I just don't.

I love me some J-frame, but for a 357 chambering, give me an all-steel version.
I'm pretty recoil tolerant, but even the steel ones kick like a Missouri mule.
The airweight 38's with standard ammo are almost as stout.
No airweight magnums for this fella, thanks.
But I'm glad they make them for those of you who want one. :D

Good my LGS should have a used one for sale soon at 250. When S&W introduced the new alloy they were quickly traded in for cheap. Too much of a pain in the hand.

Like the gun,
Hate the grips.
If I got one I would swap out those ugly grips and throw them into the drawer!

Please sell me the FDE grips when you do. I LOVE them. Simply an extension of the semi-auto trend of FDE polymer frame and Black Slide. My favorite.

I'm conflicted. The traditionalist in me says FDE on a revolver? Thats like putting a pig on lipstick.

The deeply repressed tactitard in me says *must* *have*.

14oz .357? No thanks.

I'd shoot .357 through it...once, then move to .38 and +P rounds. I'd then have a 637 at nearly twice the price...which is silly.

I'll pass on the air weight 357 magnum...I am neither a sadist or masochist . +P in an air weight is enogh for me .

I have honestly never shot 357 through a j frame, so you guys have me wondering about it now. Since you can get a 38 special revolver for less money. I like the weight because its similar to my bodyguard 380 that i carry.

I guess i would have to shoot one first and see how it is, as with anything.

I prefer concealed or shrouded hammers on j frames. I would go for a scandium 638 with unfluted cylinder and no lock and to complete the dream make it 2.5 or 3 inch barrel. The FDE grips are growing on me but I like boot grips better. Maybe they will make a FDE boot grip.

To me...firearms are like cars. It's not necessarily the horsepower as much as it is the HP to weight ratio. A super lightweight 9mm can have a strong bit of kick to it.

A 14oz revolver, even with a solid +P round, is going to have a fair amount of recoil. Nothing insane...but definitely more than some are comfortable shooting. My wife hated shooting my 637 with +P rounds.

A 14oz .357? I'll come right out and say it, no thanks. I've never shot one, I don't plan to. I've read enough reviews of the .357 J frames and how many times I've seen them called "punishing" or "miserable" with full magnum loads.

Yeah me neither.

First it's way too expensive.

Second, as you mentioned, over the years I have NEVER, EVER read a single review of those featherweight 357mag revolvers that didn't contain those descriptive terms you listed.

I just saw one for sale, they are less expensive....but not much at $715 and change.
So you get a $700 38+P that you could easily pay 1/2 that and be more comfortable. Not to mention that it has an external hammer that nearly everyone states how much they HATE on a CCW revolver.

To each his own I guess. Buy it and enjoy it in good health.

I can get a 637 for $389. I just looked. Seems like a better option and it's 15oz

Tough Choice

I like the concept of the Model 360 although I doubt I'd ever fire it with magnums. I currently own a Model 37 which is a very similar gun except for not chambering the .357 Magnum or using +P ammo.

If I feel inclined to buy this type of gun, I'd first consider the new Colt Cobra or perhaps the Kimber.

Im a couple years away from getting a J frame anyway. 627 pro is first on my list. That'll be much more comfortable shooting 357, haha.

For those who care, The Yankee Marshall (Youtube) just got one. Can't wait to hear about his first range trip.

I don't like the idea of having to change that blast shield in the top strap every so often. Stainless will work for me.
