next factory run of the Model 41

Recently placed an order (and down-payment) with my local dealer for a new Model 41. He said that there are none available currently, and that we will have to wait for the factory to manufacture some new ones. Does anyone know how often S&W makes a batch of these pistols?

Its possible you could be in for a wait of some time. I doubt that S&W runs these to a schedule but rather to dealer/distributor back orders.
Presuming the dealer didn't force a large down payment there's not a lot that can be done.
Depending on your locale you could do some more shopping for one in stock.

I'd look for a clean used one and try to get my deposit back. Added benefit---NO LOCK.....

Way back in the 70's, I wanted a new Mod 41, and when the factory tooled up and made a batch it had been 4 years since they had previously made a batch. Unfortunately when one came available I traded off my nice old 5 screw K22 for it.
