Next gun S&W revolver, but which one?

FWIW; I paid $465 for my 60-9 which is market price I think for a used one of those. A new 642 would have cost me around $420ish on the internet or about $450ish with tax locally. So, to me, it was a wash. I just had to decide 'which one do I really want'? With a used 60, I can sell it for the same price quickly. Just me, but I always seem to lose a bit when I buy something new and then change my mind.

I am in the process of getting a 642. I like the internal hammer, the weight & other features the particular one I'm getting has [CT laser & no lock ftw]. You pretty much can't go wrong with any of the suggested revolvers above. Just research and see what options will work for you and your situation.

I bought a 442 for its less conspicuous (I thought) color and easier-to-see black sights, but promptly wished I'd picked the 642. I carry the 442 daily in an IWB leather/kydex holster and find that the carbon steel crane will begin to rust in a few days if I don't keep it wiped down every night.

I've long had a soft spot for the shrouded hammer design of the model 49, so have just ordered a 638 (aluminum/stainless version) to carry most of the time instead of the 442. I can paint the sights black to make 'em easier to see, and won't have to worry (as much) about the rust. IIRC it was $377 from Bud's Gun Shop with free shipping.

IF there can be only one...

For me, the ultimate revolver for concealed carry/survival, is the S&W Governor. Most calibers that can be safely fired out of ANY handgun. Reliable, accurate, sexy as hell, and simply, The Best...

Example of the well adjusted S&W Governor owner:

(No, I am NOT biased... Well, maybe a little bit... So what if I have eight of them? Haven't you heard, "More is better?" Really, it's like eating peanuts! Yeah, my therapist is a Glock guy... I have THAT problem too... Therapy is costing me more than ammo... At least I'm not limited to just ONE or TWO types of ammo...)

Get the idea? If one is great, more is better...

Prepare to have more fun shooting a handgun, than you ever expected... And it's practical too!

Sorry, I might get a little carried away, but it's HARD being humble, if you own a S&W Governor, or two, or three, or...

OA, out...

A J-frame 38 Special is the way to go.
-Chief's Special
-Bodyguard (not the "new" model that's plastic!)
-Centennial

All can be had in stainless, blue, or nickle. One can track one down in full steel, Lightweight, or Airlight Ti and anything from new to vintage. Keep in mind that the lighter the gun, the more comfortable it is to carry and the less to shoot! Most pros prefer the hammerless versions as they afford a higher grip and lower snag risks. Decisions, decisions...you cannot make a bad one here. Figure out the flavor and begin your search.

To put things in perspective, here are my Governor and 642:

The 642 is easier to CC!

Good thinking on the snub revolver. All my nonhandgun shooting friends decide to get a Chl and I reccommend what you see here. They always answer "why not a glock 17 (or some other full size auto". I always answer with sure, you gonna wear a heavy over coat in a 100+ Texas summer?
