NIB Model 28-2 Value?

Just found this today for a bit under $700. Also had the 6 inch for same price. No boxes.

Very nice condition, at a reasonable price. I look for S serial numbers. Have 3, and one on the way. That would make 2@4" and 2@6". That is enough. All S prefix. Just gave a very nice N prefix to son on his 28th Bday. No he does not get a 29 next year

The 6" on the left is the N prefix I just gave away. The others are 1965 to 1968

This one is N299xxx so I think that would be 1976. This one is in better shape than the 6 in but all of your S serials appear to be in fantastic shape. I may put up another of my Swiss rifles to keep them together.

I just bought a 95% 28-2 for just over $600. Saw another in a store just yesterday for $649 with barely a turn line. Both are low N range serials (1970-71).

NIB, I'd think $1k. I wouldn't be a buyer (I buy high-condition shooters) but someone would. All the collector action is in pre-28s, factory nickel, 8-3/8" barreled guns, and if anyone can find a true 28-1 I'm sure they can ask pretty much anything they want for it.

EDIT: Found the 28-1 thread on here...I actually had put a like on post #1 years ago... :)

No harm in that if the price and condition are right. I look for high quality shooters. There are a lot of them that were made, but there were more available a year ago. In general the prices are edging upwards as 27's climb. I have looked a lot over to find what I have. The 6" i have coming is a 1963 S serial #

Three weeks ago I bought an 85% six-inch, 28-2 "shooter" in Hermiston, OR for $699.00. I bought a 90% four-inch, "shooter" in Vancouver several months ago for $599.00. I'm thinking location and availability have a large impact on prices. Oh, and by the way bigmoneylewis, you are quite correct, I am a shooter but even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while. Eating it is totally up to him!

Way too much money for that, and it is not even and S serial #.

That is just a couple guys getting stupid in a bidding war. That does not reflect actual worth.

I thought the same when it went north of 850.
Now ifing it had all the goodies with it, maybe.
Either way, it looked to be a darn good slightly used gun.
