I was about to leave the line when I found 1 more 9mm round in the box. This is where I put it at 21 feet, offhand. An excellent way to end this range trip if I say so myself.

Now for the questions. This 25 year old wants to know the history behind the model. The previous owner didn't maintain it well, judging from the carbon-choked internals, so i'd like to avoid that mistake and understand the heritage behind this sweet piece. I snagged it off of Gunbroker for about $480 including transfer fees.

What say you all?

The 3 digit series model 439, 539, 639 was the 3rd incarnation of the Model 39, the second was the 39-2.
The 439 could be nickel or blue but with an aluminum frame, the 539 is basicly the same but with a steel frame and the 639 is the stainless steel version.
The 59 is the 14 shot version that came out during the 39-2 series run,
the 459 basicly has the same slide/barrel as the 439 but with the hi cap lower.
